You can't expect full retail on a trade with Eichel who wants to undergo a 1st of its kind for an NHL player with the recovery outcome uncertainty. There's also the known fact he wants out now so that drives down Buffalo's bargaining chips.

Replace Valimaki with a different young player/prospect (not Mangiapane or Tkachuk) also Flames will add #12. With the potential of loosing Giordano (not to mention him probably retiring soon) Valimaki is kinda needed in Calgary, not to mention with the likelihood of the Sabres taking Power now you really dont need another top pair caliber LD. I could see Dube, Francis, Ruzicka, or Gawdin being of interest

Reinhart wont sign longterm in Columbus and they wont be moving Roslovic

I mean I think Calgary can pay all it wants.... I don't think Jack actually wants to go to the city of Calgary. And that kind of nixes any deal there.

He doesn't have a NTC and has lots of term on his deal, he'll go wherever Buffalo sends him. And if he gets to play with Gaudreau, he may love Calgary. He also wants to compete and not tank every year and one thing you can say about the Flames is even when they're mediocre, they as an organization try to compete.

But this is all moot as I don't think Eichel will actually get traded and in this particular suggestion, I doubt Monahan waives his limited NTC for Buffalo as they're basically the postchild for why NTCs exist.

...not sure it's exactly that easy. I mean do you want to get into a situation where Jack doesn't report and you end up in a mutual contract termination losing big assets for absolutely nothing?

He's going to go where he wants to go. NHL teams know this, it's why they reach out to Peter Fish beforehand to gauge interest. For some reason, stuff like that is lost on this forum.

If he hasn't failed to report to the Sabres why wouldn't he report to Calgary? You're making a big deal out of literally nothing.

Dont waste your time here Sagecoil has heard from his alter ego's that Eichel will only accpet a trade to his beloved Rangers for dirt cheap

He's literally about the file a grievance through the NHLPA against the Sabres if he's not traded before then, he's never playing for them again lol.

Yeah... you are right, seems like they should be a cautionary tale about overindulging.
