Hard to give up Bertuzzi., but it’s not a terrible offer, I wouldn’t give up our 2nd round pick, they’d be lucky to get our 5th rounder

Perfect winger for McDavid, cap relief for EDM to sign Nurse

Detroit gets a promising LD prospect, and a 1st

Maybe too generous with that 2nd

Agreed. This trade seems to be in the right ballpark, though, for both sides. The 2nd Rounder IS a tad optimistic! Losing top prospect Broberg hurts, but adding Bertuzzi would be great for OIlers and if it means shedding Neal and his almost 6 million albatross of a contract, they would have to consider it. Said this on a different mock up . . . building around LD Broberg & RD Seider for the future Red Wings would be something else!!

The return for taking Neal is a 1st +, as his deal has two years left. So by adding Broberg is a start, and is now more than what it takes to dump Neal, but then asking for both Bertuzzi and a 2nd is a bit to much and throw the balance in Oilers side.

The wings have better d prospects then Broberg on the way but I get what you’re saying 😉

Really? Other than Mo Seider, who's that? THN, TSN, and others tell me otherwise. You sure that statement isn't a bit "fave team" biased?

Guaranteed it’s not biased. Eemil Viro, Jared McIsaac Albert Johannsen and William Wallinder are just a few

All of which don't make (as an example) The Hockey News' NHL Top 100 Prospect list, where as Broberg (28), Heinola (30), Bouchard (33), Lundkvist (39). and Sandin (50) are all prospect defenseman that do. I know these lists are subjective and all---some players are much higher on one list, lower on others, etc.---but you'll forgive me if I think you're being a tad bit of a homer here! (The list of names in the bottom 50 are pretty decent NHL prospects, also)

By your assertion, if Yzerman were offered Broberg (or perhaps any of the names I just listed) in a trade 1 for 1, for say Viro, you would hope he'd respectfully decline??

Johannson is the only one I would even begin to compare. As hyped as I am for these guys, Broberg still slots in ahead of them.

Anyway, Werenski comes home in '23, so really we just need a 2nd pair LD for Hronek, right? =)

I just think those trades would never happen, Viro could be better than. Broberg he could be worse. I like how you’re optimistic and open minded as am I. Broberg could be the best one day but one of the prospects that I mentioned could end up being the most defensively sound player in the league one day. Hard to judge when players are so young, plus different systems makes guys play better. I’d take Broberg if I was offered for a fair deal but if not I’m not complaining.
