I see Foligno in so many threads with Toronto, and none of them ever consider the Wild's point of view or our needs. None of them ever give us a reason to want to trade Foligno.

I think a package could definitely be made for him.

But certainly not this one.

Same with a lot of the other ones.

A package could definitely be made for him, in theory. In reality, Guerin loves this guy and just re-signed him because of how important he thinks he is. So frankly, I'm not sure it could happen without a drastic overpayment.

But in terms of fun hypotheticals on this site? A package could definitely be made. But pieces like Kerfoot, Engvall, Holl, Dermott aren't gonna get it done, and that's all that's ever proposed here.

Why does vegas do this? Trading the younger guy, on a good deal, that will be significantly cheaper over the next 3-4 years (our window)

Personally, I’ve always liked Perry since I watched him play in London. It’s actually not recency bias. I just think he’d be a good fit.

Honestly, this was my one hope and wish trade. I love whitecloud and think he would be amazing on the leafs.

But is he an upgrade from jumbo? I think so. Plus he’s actually won a cup and been there. Multiple times in his career. Not trying to knock joe because he had a great career and was a great player. But I think this is a better bet presence. And him and Tavares used to room for team Canada and be good friends.

I’d take even a 3rd tbh, or just shop it somewhere else. It’s just a salary dump for a pick or 2.

Maybe if we throw in a decent pick? Haha. I just really think whitecloud would fit really well on the leafs.

joe was significantly better this year by pretty much every metric. It's not his fault that Keefe's awful powerplay was an absolute waste. If I had input i wouldnt bring in either of them. Joe was fun, but i woudlnt trust keefe to use him right (same with perry). I'd just bring in a cheap kid like Brooks or whatever instead, or find a younger player with some speed. The leafs dont need to add anymore fringe vet presence, they have a ton of that already and replacing it with another old guy who doesnt have it anymore wont help.

Unless it's a massive overpay I just don't see it nothing personal

Fair enough, I see your view. I just was trying to find a fourth liner tough to play against that would be cheap.

In a random wish, would you fire Keefe on the spot if brind’amour walks from Carolina? LOL we’ll pay him his 5m

Haha I definitely don’t take it personal. Like I said earlier. I knew it was a super long shot trade. I just wanted him and he made the cap fit for his quality:

yeah, again if he was tough to play against that'd be something id be for. but he's not. he needs to be sheltered so bad and the only thing he can do is stand in front of the net and hope people bounce pucks of him. and he cant do that at 5v5 because he's so slow he cant get to the net in time most of the time.
I'd fire Keefe on the spot now if i could. I think he's a good coach when things are going well, but he freezes like a rabbit the second something doesnt work. I'd be pushing real hard for Gallant to coach and try and hire boudreau as an assistant.

Fair enough, everyone evaluates players different and I respect your opinion. You’ve got tons of reasoning.

Oh man, that sounds like a dream. I feel the same way about keefe. I think he’s decent, but has no in game decision making skills. He also is way too loyal to certain players, and I think that clouds his judgement. For example, in my opinion there is no way foligno should’ve started at 2c in game 6. That line was buzzing and taking out kerf for foligno was a mistake.
