If Caps can't get anything else at all for Kuz and feel like they have to trade him then maybe they do that trade, but they already have a pure offensive defensemen in Carlson. Still think they'd just keep him though.

Doubt the Sabres would take Hagelin on waivers.

Tough for Seattle pass on Vanecek or Samsonov...

I cannot remember who I used as a comp for Danault contract, but they were 28 last year with similar production and a $5.9AAV. Might need to slightly overpay to get him out of Montreal.

What are you thinking on Samsonov? I felt like this was a "prove it" type deal.

Looked for a team with cap space and a young team. Could swap picks like the Kempny deal to get them to take the cap hit.

I haven't done the expansion draft yet, but I'm thinking there's possibly 2 young goaltenders available better than Samsonov/Vanecek? They probably take one veteran and two young/prospect type?

I can see that. Minnesota is in a bind with the expansion draft rules locking them into who they can protect due to NTC. Dumba is going to be exposed (or a good forward) and unless they sweeten the deal to Seattle that should be the pick.

I look at him as an upgrade to Schultz.
