I am a Flyers fan and usually all the Pens post I see are pretty unrealistic. This one makes sense and I get what you are doing with the contracts. I still am a believer you could get a 2nd for Fleury but people that think he is netting a 1st or even two 1st are usually wishing pretty heavily. Also, appreciate that you kept Fehr since nobody is giving up a 3rd or higher for him. You guys are in pretty good shape here still (which pisses me off lol) but I think the year after they are going to have to get creative with 12 contracts coming off the books but approximately only 15 mil to replace those spots. Possible but that should make or break if you guys are serious cup contenders for a sustained period of time or just these next two to three years. Good luck!

i actually hate the pens just wanted to show a realistic team for next year....ive seen people give sheary 900k-2.5 million its almost laughable. and fluery is a good goalie if you have a young guy who will be ready in 2 years

Cap hell begins?! Sheary is not going to get $4.5M. They will let him walk if he wants more than $2.5. He is a good player, but he is undersized and doesn't create a whole lot of offense himself. He has good hockey IQ and has been able to read Sid extremely well. He wouldn't be in the top 6 of any other team in the league (think Pascal Dupuis but smaller and no PK ability. Hagelin comes off the books once Guentzal needs resigned, Hornqvist once Sprong needs resigned, and the rest are just depth forwards the Penguins would make a mistake signing to big money.

The only thing right you got here is the value of both defenseman. They may be able to get Dumo for cheaper since he is having somewhat of a rough year with his play and injuries.

haha 2.5? youre going to offer him 500k more than you would fehr? if they are lucky hell get 3.25-3.5....and yes cap hell yes bc at best getz plays average and u have to pay him 3-3.5 plus rust 2.5 then u need to replace players like horn and haglin theyll get same if not more money ALSO 3 years when u need to pay that new gen players murray will get a raise probaby 6-7 mil

The entire strategy is to fill the Top 6 wings with younger players due to the play making skills of Sid and Gino. Paying every young winger who can score 20 goals next to Crosby is expensive, but just calling up the next winger available in WBS is cheap and will likely be the answer. You are forgetting that (or are ignorant to) Rust and Sheary being undrafted players. Pittsburgh scouts know what to look for in terms of players playing next to Sid and could find the same success down the road.

Let's not pretend Dumoulin is anything other than a lesser version of Niklas Hjalmarsson. There's no way he gets more than Hjalmarsson's $4.1 million per season, and at this point its a stretch to say Dumo is even worth what Justin Braun or Mattias Ekholm are making (around $3.8 million over 5-6 years). If Dumoulin is willing to sign for some serious term I might be alright with the team going higher, but if he's only signing for 3-4 years I'd be walking away at anything over $3.3 million. He's a solid, unremarkable defenseman who deserves a solid, unremarkable contract, and the Pens won't stay a top team for very long by paying an average 2nd pairing defenseman at the end of his development curve like a borderline top pairing D on the rise.
