Leafs 2022

Created by: MauriceArthur15
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 14, 2021
Published: Jun. 14, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My new Leafs roster.

Toronto loses Kerfoot to expansion draft.

Toronto trade Engvall to Seattle for future considerations.

Toronto trades Morgan Rielly, Roni Hiroven and a 2nd for Christian Dvorak and Lawson Crouse. Toronto plays Morgan Rielly signing bonus saving 2 million plus whatever Crouse is owed in actual dollars. Rielly can either sign there long term or be traded at the deadline for a 1st. So that would make the trade 1st, a 2nd and a b-tier prospect. It a win for both teams as Airzona starts thier rebuild and Toronto get players in their effort to win now.

Toronto trades Dermotts rights for Jason Dickson rights. This is a trade for 2 teams with young players to trade them for a fresh starts. This trade might be undervalued. If so lmk what I should add to make it to even for Dallas.

Toronto trades Hutchinson for a 6th. TBL gets a backup lower than this year minimum.

Toronto signs Saad, Oleksiak, Getzlaf and Reimer.

Lmk what y’all think down below. Have a great day.

Eh, Dickinson really hasn't shown anything that would indicate he's a top-6 option. He's much more suited for a bottom-6 role with the capability to fit into a top-6 role for brief periods (due to injury, trade, etc.). I wouldn't label him a "change of scenery" kind of guy, as he's never really struggled in Dallas. He's been pretty consistent throughout the course of his tenure in Dallas & honestly is already a better version of Radek Faksa.

If I'm Dallas, I trade Faksa before I trade Dickinson

I think this is pretty realistic, I just think Arizona would want more only cause I think Dvorak is more valuable for 4 years remaining at a reasonable contract. I think you may need to add a B level prospect like Abramov or Abruzee but I think it's pretty realistic overall. I think I would prefer to keep Engvall over Mikey but if Mikey can actually learn to shoot better... he could easily score 10 breakaway goals at least.

One thing about the Dvorak contract is that it’s back loaded. This next year he’s owed 5 million and the last 3 years it’s like 6 million. The way John Chayka did those contracts was weird. Next year they have one of the highest actual dollar spent because of OEL, Keller and Chychuryn (I may have butchered that lol). It’s more of money save move than an actual value move. The one thing with Airzona we currently do know what direction they are going in. Whether is a rebuild, retool or try to win.

Dickie is most likely Seattle bait. Don’t really have a need for Dermott. I’d rather lose Faksa as stated above. Dickie is cheaper and more flexible. Doesn’t really need a change of scenery. He’s done everything the org has asked him to do. I do think he’s capable of more offense but I’d be shocked if it was 2C offense

Thanks for the feedback, heard really good thing about Dickson and taught of the trade. I think Faksa can and would work but to get the money going is gonna be hard on the Leafs. I do think Dermott would be a fit on your defence as he could play both sides and he still has the top 4 potential but was really never given a chance.

We already have a lefty playing the right side with Miro. Nothing against Dermott, but I feel like Nill would rather have Oleksiak’s size. We also wouldn’t be able to protect Dermott and I feel like Seattle would take him over Dobby after a down year
