As a wings fan, I don't think this is close enough to get Eichel. You're looking at:

Raymond/Seider
Larkin/Veleno
2021 1st
2022 1st

as a start, and that might not even do it. Also probably sets the rebuild back a few years to do this. As for the Toronto trade, Ras and Erne both are showing improvement so I doubt Stevie ships them off

I agree with you on this setting back the rebuild significantly. Not a good deal for Detroit.

Oh, on a linguistic note. Shouldn't it be either "Chip off" or Ship out"? Mixed metaphores was a favourite thing of Shakespeare but...

I think this trade is a massive overpayment for Eichel, Veleno and Berggren project to be top 6 guys within the next few years and the two first should turn into a top 6 F/ Top 2 D/ Starting goalie. 4 high end assets plus a 2nd and Tuomisto could get you the entire Sabres team. If I am Detroit I would consider Veleno, 2021 1st and take your pick of another middle tier prospect.

Ship out probably works better linguistically haha

Gotta disagree man, everything from what I'm hearing is Eichel will take what's worth around four 1sts (if Buffalo gets that or not is another story but I'm basing my trade idea off of that)

so a blue chip prospect (Raymond or Seider)
a center to go back to replace Eichel (Larkin or Veleno)
and two 1sts would roughly equal that four 1sts price tag

Eichel is a top player in the league when healthy and to get something like that you have to give up a lot imo

I do think it will take 4 assets, but the team that will be giving them up would likely be picking in the 20-32 range each year. It would likely take 2 or 3 1sts in that range to land Raymond/Seider. Eichel will be moved for a big package but what it is way too much for Detroit. One of raymond/seider and this years 1st would probably be fair value but I still don't think Detroit makes that trade. Just doesn't make sense to move multiple assets for 1 right now. Especially with what Vegas and Montreal are doing in the playoffs with no true 1C

Completely agree with you, Detroit definitely should not do this trade, was just doing a hypothetical in what I thought it would take to get him.

Having Eichel would give us the 1C we've needed for a long time but we'd lose too much to acquire him. we wouldn't be able to put talent around him and he'd end up in playoff-less limbo like he is now.
