I'm pretty sure they are trading Hertl either this summer or at the deadline no matter what. I can't see them committing to another long term deal for declining player. If they are smart they will move him this summer and get a younger centre as part of the package.

But if they can move Burns (or somehow Vlasic, yes I know impossible) this season then i can see a Hertl extension

vlasic will either retire or be bought out, and the older Burns gets the more likely teams balk due to the length of his deal.
hert trade is logical but he still wouldn’t be enough to resign the other guys. but it’s a decent plan

I can see vlasic hanging on as long as possible, he did say he wants to play all 20yrs in san jose, so I think that might end in a buy out in about 3yrs

I would love if he retired rather than suck the last years of his career but who walks away from millions of dollars!!! He is here till the bitter end… buyout or contract completion
