Description
Last year Marner played 22:26 per game. 1st among forwards league wide
Nylander played 16:36, 141st.

Leafs lack of secondary options throughout the year crushed them. They relied too heavily on Matthews and Marner to score which killed them in the end. Need 4 lines that can be effective to win. Coleman and Goodrow are excellent pieces. Same with Foligno that give them depth and 4 lines that can score. Thornton, Simmonds, Engvall and even Mikheyev did nothing in the playoffs. They were outmatched by Montreal’s bottom 6. I think this team below is deep and has 4 lines that can generate chances and goals. You keep the 1 million just in case Robertson or Liljegren aren’t ready.

I think so too he would be starting as a scratch and can rotate into the lineup. I wouldn’t call it a big overpayment. Dermott is a 6-7 Dman on a good team. Engvall is a mediocre 3rd-4th line guy that has no clue how to use his big body. Crouse can pop in 10-15 goals and lead the league in hits. And is huge. I don’t care about prospects like SDA I think he’s still 2-3 years away from anything.

Leafs have about 8m to spend with a 20 man roster currently. It always seems to be the same broken record of “leafs don’t have cap space” meanwhile the two teams that will meet in the final: one being over the cap the other having to ice less than a full roster in season due to cap.

Don’t see us using a 4th to push Engvall to the AHL. Different destination would be better but value is probably accurate

The Leafs surprisingly have a lot of cap space to add or change this season. I think that they find a way will lose Kerfoot to Seattle just because there is a lot of decent C’s that replace him for less.
