Description
Expansion Draft Protection List
FWDs: Parise, Zuccarello, Fiala, Ek, Foligno, Greenway, Hartman

DEF: Spurgeon, Suter, Brodin

G: Kahkonen

SEA Selects: G Talbot
No need to worry about giving up assets to protect Talbot, you can use that 3.6M cap hit to sign a FA goalie this year. Maybe we need to trade up to a 3rd rounder to protect Soucy.

RFAs:
Ek: 6x5.25M - he seems like a guy you can sign long term, and at $5.25M
Kaprizov: 5x8.25M - we don't get long term, reasonable to settle at 5, but don't get close to $9M then.
Fiala: 4x6M - Don't give him too long of term: trust he can score around 30 goals for four years, he definitely has the skills and it seems like his work ethic has improved.
Steel: - Simple Bridge/prove it deal. Probably will be cheap as consistent production hasn't been there yet.

UFA
Ullmark: 3x3.575M - a younger option that like Talbot can thrive on this team just like most other average goalies.
N. Foligno: 2x2.5M - we had interest in him at deadline, Foligno brothers are awesome and hardworking guys, if there's mutual interest make it happen.
Cole: 3x1.8M - give him 3 years to lower his cap hit as much as possible.

Additional Details:
Jarvis solidifies are prospect pool as we lack a RH RW.

    Additional Details:
Greenway is more valuable than Steel but we use him to offload rask and get a young centre.

Jarvis is pretty much untouchable. Pass.

you guys have a lot of prospects, obviously I'd hope for Jarvis but i'd be happy getting a package of something like Ponomarayov, Kaski, Gunler.

I don't think you can get a 26 year old, top 6 center with term, who has scored at a rate of .78ppg over his career for a 24 year old undrafted defense "prospect", a 3rd round pick center from 2018 with 0 NHL games and some conditional picks.

Much better chance of getting some of those other guys but Jarvis is projecting as our top prospect. Canes can also go out and sign a dman in FA without giving up assets so definitely wouldn’t be moving Jarvis or Suzuki for Dumba.

fair enough, I edited the trade. Just not a huge fan of Monahan's overall game. Has struggled with defence/skating and has injury concerns. I don't think you get too much for him. I know Treviling offered Monahan for Dumba last year and Guerin declined. I think he's more of a middle 6 centre at this point. Not gonna get too much for him.

There was never any proof the Flames offered Monahan for Dumba, it was more speculation from fans and then a Wild reporter claiming Guerin would never make that trade. It never made sense from a Calgary perspective as they were trying to add center depth and at the time we had Brodie and Andersson on the right side.

I really like that Ducks trade. Greenway would fit in great with his grittiness.

Enticing deal only if Flames are looking to rebuild. I don't think they are and it doesn't help the team win now so I think they pass.

If it wasn't for expansion there could very well have been a deal for Dumba though...
