I'd throw engvall in for free, with our terrible cap situation 1.25m is a little too much for him

Thanks for being honest

I feel like a Coleman, Czikas, Goodrow, Gourde, Nosek type would be great adds cause they bring a hardworking element to the team that battles. Perry could be a solid add. I wish we could swap Kreider for Coleman, then we’d be good.

Ok I think that's an overstatement about those kinds of guys. Toronto had those kinds of players and it didn't work out. For eg. Hyman, Brown, Matt Martin, Tomas Plekanec to name a few. It will be something NYR will go through as the enter their playoff phase/contention phase. Washington, St. Louis and Tampa all went through it and overcame the hump. Now its Toronto, Colorado, Carolina and I expect Florida to be in that conversation.

Its about find the correct complimentary players around your young core. Even if you look at the scoring for Tampa it Kucherov, Point, Hedman, Stamkos, Killorn and then it falls off.

NYR has a bright future but don't be emotional when it comes to these hardships as I for one is a Leafs fan it gets annoying but at the end of the day we have 2 top 10 scorers in the league, one of the best even strength players in Tavares and Nylander who's a beast. Its about finding the right combo to support them.

Not an overstatement when you’re team keeps getting embarrassed in the first round. It’s not overblown to say you need guys who are hard workers and can provide others things than just score come playoff time. Teams win on depth, defense and goaltending with timely scoring. Defense and depth are ridiculously important.

Like the St. Louis Blues, Caps, Tampa all weren't embarrassed in the 1st round right? Also to your point the Leafs had depth scoring, defence and goaltending. We had 4 points from Alex Galchenyuk, 6 points from Kerfoot, 3 goals from Spezza, and I can go on. Literally from our depth we had 7 goals from our depth in the 1st round lol. Montreal had even less from their depth as they had only 5 goals from their depth. We had the better goalie as Campbell outplayed Price. Our defence only allowed 2 goal a game including empty netters.

You listen to media far too much rather than watching the games. You guys have something special in NYR don't be irrational because you see NYI be successful with a different formula. If you try to replicate the Islanders in the war room you'll lose to the Islanders on the ice. If you don't believe ask the Panthers as they literally tried to replicate Pittsburgh after 2016 and it set the team back 5 years.

There is no backbone on the Rangers and their is absolutely nothing special with the NYR. We can’t develop forward prospects to save our damn lives. Can’t win a faceoff. Defense is still a mess. I’d say our brightest spot rests solely on Fox and Shesty. Don’t you find it odd that with several NHL ready prospects we’ve seem to find a way to screw them up. Not a recipe for long term success if you ask me.

Buddy patience is the mantra. You have to be patient don't make any irrational moves. Personally the reason I think why a lot of your prospects didn't flourish is because David Quinn wasn't the coach for the NYR.

Don't get it twisted with the Leafs I'm upset we blew it, but if we replay that series does Tavares gets injured 10 mins in? Does MTL hold Matthews and Marner to 1 goal? Do we lose this series when we outscore them 18-14 in the series?

With young players you gotta be patient.

While I’m not nearly as optimistic about the team as others, I think you may have misunderstood me. I don’t think we’re ready to contend yet. My initial comment was based on the idea that we need our bottom 6 to be a little more of the hardworking type instead of solely smaller guys with only skill. I personally think we need to give it at least another year to let our guys develop more before thinking about the playoffs. That’s not a pessimistic view, but one for wanting the young guys to further develop before going out and thinking of adding to compete come playoff time.

You have to be optimistic. It not about getting does hard working guys by trading or drafting them. It’s about turning your stars into those. The Ovi who won the cup was a different OVI from the failures. The Pietrangelo that had all those hardships wasnt the same Pietrangelo, and I can go on. It will take time and hardships but they needs to push through those.
