I’m certainly of the opinion that OEL at $6MM is negative value, so do you think Garland costs more than Debrusk, studnicka, Vaakainanen, zboril, a 1st and a 3rd? I like the player a lot, but I certainly don’t think he’s worth more than that.

Zona is retaining $2,250,000 per year and surrendering a 2nd round pick as well. Still too much? What about keeping one of Zboril or Vaak and the 3rd round pick?

What would it take to just acquire Garland and forget OEL?

No Boston is taking a massive risk though hoping OEL can regain even 80% percent of the form of the player he once was, Arizona knows they will have to retain at least 2 mill just to move him

I think you are just a little hard on OEL the last few years he’s played with lubushkin or whatever his name is, either way he’s probably a defencemen most comparable to like tinordi but a bit better defensively, lybushkin provides no offence at all he had 2 points this year. How is OEL supposed to succeed when his d partner is literally a 7th dman on most teams. I think you pair up OEL with Carlo or mcavoy and you see a lot more out of him, for 6 mill I’d take him

If he hit the open market today as a UFA, what do you think he would get?

I think around 5 mill close too, I watched a few Arizona games and you can tell OEL is always try to compensate for Ilyas mess ups, I do think with a better d partner you would see more out of him. The main things I can point out from OEL’s game now is he isn’t as fast as he once was and he doesn’t try to utilize his once elite wrist shot like he used too. But with mcavoy or Carlo as a partner and the right system maybe he would be able to atleast regain his shot
