Description

Treliving has 2 major decisions to make this year. Gio's future in the expansion draft and can we get Johnny to sign an extension. Sadly, I also think that Monahan has played his last game as a flame which is unfortunate as he is a sell low. I don't think we will get the return we could if we hold onto him for another year and flip him at the deadline. With Sutter as the coach and Treliving's job on the line I don't see this happening.

The below is based on us losing all three in some fashion which sucks but I think is the real scenario.

Not a rebuild but a retool and hopefully get a couple guys to step up with Sutter style hockey (I am not a big fan of the dump and chase mentality btw). Lining up the big deals in the 3 year range as I think that's the real window for the rest of this team if they don't blow it up

Also trying to leave roughly 2-3mill in cap so we have flexibility at the deadline and enough cash to resign Tkachuk/Forsberg

Let me know what you guys think. Not sure if the trades/signings are realistic or not. Just my best guess/hopes

Would Monahan waive his NTC for Buffalo? Also, the difference between him and Reinhart is more than a 4th.

Sam Reinhart >Sean Monahan you can keep Monahan and Sabres can trade Reinhart to another team.

That's a really good point on the no trade. I don't think anyone in their right mind would do that right now haha. Calgary needs a RW who can score and Reinhardt fit the bill. Can't think of another trade off the top my head where we get as much upside. Maybe trade him for prospects on another team and go for Palmieri UFA on a short term deal would be better for the future
