I don't see the Sens giving up on young Formenton (and Tierney) just to get 2 years of Monahan.
Think the Flames can do better in a Gaudreau trade . The Ghost at 4.5m and Patrick doesn't seem to provide NHL value.

What you call too little for Monahan I call too much. There's a reason he has struggled the last two seasons and it's the 5 surgeries he had in the 3 seasons before his stats took a nosedive. And NOW he's coming off a significant hip surgery. Ottawa should NOT make the mistake of paying for the player Monahan WAS, cause I don't see him getting back to those numbers. Formenton will be among the FASTEST NHL middle 6 winger for a lot of years... and I'd hate to give him up for a 2 year rental that will play BEHIND Norris.
Especially when we could use that $6M per season to grab a UFA pivot that would be much better, keep Formenton and the 2nd, and trade Tierney to acquire a 3rd.
