Keep Berdin and the pick and just re-sign Brossoit. Also, the defense is unchanged and was awful this past season, why do it again?

That's a good salary for Mathieu OchoCinco.

Assuming the Jets can't attract an impact defenseman in free agency, it's fair to assume we all hope for a significant trade of some kind. I ask, who should Jets trade with/for, and what players/picks should they offer?

There are guys like Savard, Larsson, Martinez, Oleksiak that are not too tier that will help the Jets. We should be able to get them

As for trades, I can see the likes of Sanheim, Zadorov and a expansion draft eligible guy being available

I never put too much faith in free agency when it comes to the Jets. Whether it's Chevy/ownership, or Winnipeg's lack of appeal, it always feels like we're the last dog at the bone.

I hope we find a deal with Seattle to extract a quality defender. Not too sure about Sanheim or Zadorov. One has had a down year, so if he can be had cheap, maybe . . . the other (while a highlight reel cruncher!) is suspect defensively.

I know that Winnipeg shows up on a ton of NTC lists, but has Chevy ever pursued a non bottom 6/ third pair D UFA? I’m trying to remember any rumours of Chevy attempting to sign somebody and failing.

Can anybody recall a UFA target over the past 3-5 years that spurned WPG for somewhere else?

(I don’t count Stastny, he was a resign, and the money and maybe term were a bit off what Vegas was offering.)

There was Kulikov and I believe Alzner back in the day, both whom at the time I believe were thought to be top 4 defenseman. I remember Montreal thinking they had found the guy to play next to Weber! Lol. But Jets overpaid on Kulikov and "lost out" on Alzner to Montreal. (though lucky for the Jets, on that one!)

But I hear what you're saying (I've proposed AGM's on here suggesting they sign Larsson and Hakanpaa, partly cuz I think they'd be fits, but also in part to my feeling that they were options the Jets had best odds of signing) but if Chevy hasn't kicked tires on all forms of d-men the past 2 off-seasons since "the mass exodus" (Trouba, Myers, Chiarot, and of course Byfuglien) then the man simply isn't doing his job. I assume we don't hear about them very much because he's either quickly told "No thanks" or their $$ ask is a non-starter for the Jets. Just my feeling.

Going back further there was Frolik, who the Jets offered better money and same term but still left.
