Sabres don't take on Boychuk for a 3rd.

Sabres don't retain on Fleury for that deal.

Sabres don't retain on Eichel.

Sabres pass on the Reinhart deal but don't really even need to as it gets easily outbid by multiple other teams offering just one piece.

Why waste a buy out on Skinner when you clearly have the cap space to just keep him? Most of this retention stuff is ludicrous, Buffalo isn’t doing at least half of it.

Boychuk is on LTIR for the rest of his contract so there's no reason to trade him at a loss. Tampa literally paid Ottawa for LTIR contracts last season.
