You won't get retention on Tarasenko, let alone for that.

Also, the Paul trade lol, you trying to win Tampa a 3rd cup? Ottawa has to convince that guy to resign, he has been great.

I know Paul has been great.

I just think if our pending UFAs won't make a solid, honest pledge to sign an extension, then they need to be traded before the deadline.

As for Tarasenko, his left shoulder is fragile and he has contributed diddly squat to the Blues since their Cup Win in 2019.

so why you trading dadonov and brown for him......dadonov is curently better and is owed alot less money than tarasenko and brown is training with Austin Mathews this summer, would be worth it to see if he learn anything

I read that part, but Ottawa better try.

As for Tarasenko, still, no way you get retention. Its already a contract Ottawa owner Eugene would like, 7.5M CAP HIT but $7.5M then $5.5M in cash owed and the Sens are NOT a cap team.

Tarasenko is owed 9.5M in 2021-2022 and 5.5m in 2022-2023 vs dadonov at 5m 2021-2022 and 6.5m in 2022-2023, melnyk would freak out trading for Tarasenko

I'm taking a gamble that Tarasenko gets a fresh start in Ottawa, recuperates and returns to form, and scores goals at a ridiculous pace like he use to.

If Dadonov was scoring goals at a pace like he was with Huberdeau and Barkov in Florida, then this trade would be a no-go.

However, his goal-scoring has fell off a cliff as an Ottawa Senator.

      That needs to change.

As for Logan Brown, I expect he will receive his qualifying offer and then be exposed to Seattle.

Also, he has had a whole host of health issues that has severely limited his potential to succeed in the NHL.

Training with Auston Matthews isn't going to change any of that.

I get what you're trying to do with the Nick Paul trade and compare it to the Barclay Goodrow trade but there's no chance Tampa does that. Looking into the underlying numbers and Goodrow is miles better than Paul. Paul's stats are inflated because he plays a higher role on his team and someone had to score. Goodrow'a got better numbers despite playing a much lesser role. Paul won't touch a 1st round pick and that trade isn't a good comparable.

I could get retention on Tarasenko if teams are less interested.

His NTC makes the number of teams that could acquire him even smaller.

Worse players than Goodrow have fetched a 1st round pick before.

In any event, that's not what this post is primarily about.

... and likely keep the Sens from acquiring him. Besides, the Blues probably aren't interested in Dadonov or Brown.

      1. According to Frank Seravalli, Tarasenko told the Blues that there are several teams to which he would allow himself to be dealt.

We don't know much else beyond that.

He could want to go to the North Pole and play hockey with Santa Claus for all we know.

There's always the possibility he doesn't waive his NTC at all, making this post entirely moot.

      2. Dadonov is a completely healthy goal-scoring winger that has no history with injuries.

If he plays with the right group of players like Huberdeau and Barkov, he could score 30 goals in an 82 game season.

The Blues have Schenn and O'Reilly, so maybe it could work out.

      If not, oh well.

      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      3. Logan Brown is a former 1st round pick and a 6 foot 6 centerman that desperately needs a change of scenery.

He played some part of his minor hockey in St. Louis and it's possible he might want to play in St. Louis long-term if he liked it there.

1- I'm aware of the report. I'm also aware that Tank probably doesn't waive to go to a rebuilding team in Canada.

2- Dadonov appears to be fading fast, though it may just be the Sens effect. Either way, I doubt the Blues try to get older at this time.

3- Brown is also a terrible skater with loads of injury issues and the Blues don't need centers, let alone one who plays small and can't win draws.

That we shall. I personally hope he stays and silences the peanut gallery, both in STL and around the league. Frankly, the disrespect he's being shown by some ingrate Blues fans is pissing me off.
