Anaheim declines. Flames take that and run. I doubt Gaudreau will sign in Toronto. So it could end up being 2 3rd for Marner or 2 3rds for Rielly AND Marner

That's a lot to give up for 2 years of Makar....who doesn't sign that contract anyway.
    Another impractical 20 man roster.

You run the first two, then get a better center at the deadline.

I really just wanted to give the Marner cap hit up to make room for the defensemen and in hope Robertson can turn into gaudreau if he don't stay

The Avs will easily match 9 mil for Makar. There is no need to sign both Makar and Hamilton anyways.

First of all, welcome to CapFriendly! I’m sure you will learn very quickly it is not as friendly as the name suggests.

    Anyways
Marner, whether you wanna believe it or not, is worth a hell of a lot more. Especially when Rielly is added onto that.

Gibson hasn’t been very good as of late. And Campbell is our guy anyways.

Makar easily stays in Colorado for that.

That bottom 6 is not very good.

Those issues aside, it’s also very unrealistic.

why? it will mess them up for gabe AND mack don't you think? and I'd rather have Makar than Marner

Oh I completely agree on how unrealistic this is, I think the 3rd line all they need to do is be a checking line which they all proved they could do, and I think you right about Marner, on top of that Gibson and Campbell would be one hell of a tandem. Gibson is probably a top 5 goalie in the league in my option if he was on a defensive average team.

So you think they'd prefer Landeskog over Makar? Makar is a franchise defenseman and he isn't going anywhere this offseason... at least not for that price.

I’m fairly certain avs have at least 8 budgeted for makar and are aware it could go to 9. Only way I see a makar offer sheet working is 7x84

Ok I like where you're coming from, you're completely correct. But if anyone offers Makar that or more maybe you will mess up the av's cap for years to come which don't you want? as your both competing for the same trophy

The av's want a long term deal structured like that though

Good point, but he could still potentially resign with COL for a shorter term which won't mess them up as much . He may also be interested in less money in Colorado if they don't give anyone a chance at offer sheeting him.

I think they offer 8x72, I don’t think they could match 7x84 as it’d destroy their depth.

    Welcome to CapFriendly.

As you get more experience, you'll learn to appreciate the value of having a number one goalie signed for six entire seasons. Notice that term would make him and Dougie Hamilton the longest-serving Maple Leafs at the end of their contracts, and Gibson would still be only 34 years old -- the same age as Andrei Vasilevskiy when his contract expires.

This is the first ever armchair GM trade where Marner goes to the Flames and Calgary would actually accept

but look at everything we're dumping on them, and Gibson doesn't exactly fit the ducks rebuild schedue

    "Dumping" is precisely the word.

Retention of $3.2 million for 6 years is worth a first-round draft pick alone.

Gibson and his contract are worth Nylander, Sandin and another first-round pick to the Maple Leafs.
