Description
Okey, what do you guys think of this years draft? i would love to hear other hawks fans opinion. My opinion is that we should see what happens with the first 10 selections then go from there. If Power, Hughes, Clarke, Edvinsson, Wallstedt, Eklund, Johnson, Beniers, Guenther and McTavish are all gone when itś our turn, I think we should trade down. Both Jets and Oilers may have interest to trade up and pick Lambos (Jets) and Cossa (Oilers). In this case we get the 17/19th selection instead of 11th and can still pick a solid prospect and get at least a 2nd and maybe more in return.

The reason I think this would be a good idea is because I don't think is a big difference on the players ranked 11-20. Best case we can pick up Matthew Coronato with this later pick and we would be the winners of the trade.

But again, only if those 10 players are of the board when it's our turn. Otherwise, pick the one who is still available.

Idk…I know Hawks picked up Soderblom and drafted Commesso but they may want Cossa.

Yeah, I really want Wallstedt. But Cossa att 11th may work.

In all sincerity, I just don't want a goalie to be drafted. I previously did a write up about goalie success in the NHL. The details are so far back that I can't seem to find them. Anyway, the results are that 1st round goalies don't really pan out. Sure, there's always the Carey Price or Vasilevsky's of the world, but there are far more failed 1st round goalies than successful. Malcom Subban was literally 5 picks behind Vasilevsky. Mark Visentin, Jack Campbell...both 10 years ago... Chet Pickard, Thomas McCollum....12 years ago. Ilya Samsanov in 2015...tbd Jake Oettinger...tbd

BUT WAIT, isn't that true for everyone position? Kinda, but not really. If you go around the NHL today, you'll see that there are more starting goalies drafted in the 2nd than the 3rd, BUT even more from the 3rd than the 1st. That isn't the case for #1 Centers. They're almost exclusively 1st rounders with a very few exceptions. Go get extra lower picks, draft, and properly develop them.

What do you think? Top 5 for Hawks to pick? Realistic at 11 ofc.

Assuming no one falls and this list is in no particular order:

    Lucius, Lysell, Lambos, Wallstet, Cossa

Power, Hughes, Edvinson, Clarke, Beniers, Johnson, Guenthier, Mctavish, Eklund all probably go ahead of us but if one falls we take that guy

I know this wasn't asked of me, but I'll answer anyway. My list of Hawks picks are as follows, BUT obviously I don't have a crystal ball so they may not be available.

    1. Mason McTavish
    2. Fabian Lysell
    3. Cole Sillinger
    4. Chaz Lucius
    5. Carson Lamobs
    6. Corson Ceuleman

I like what I see but i think it's hard tbh. I'm from Sweden and have watched Wallstedt alot and thinks he can be a future star in the NHL. So my top 5 would be:

    1. Wallstedt
    2. McTavish
    3. Lysell
    4. Coronato
    5. Cossa/Lambos

I'm not sold on Lucius, yeah he may have the best shot in this draft but his skating is a big question mark for me. Ofc if someone falls I would love to pick them up.

I’m no Hawks fan but I do think it depends on what’s going on with Toews and your confidence in your prospect pool. I expect Mctavish to be available as well as Svechkov, Lysell, Raty and others. You can never have to many good centres but you could probably still snag one of these guys around 18-20. I would trade down if no big player falls out of the top ten surprisingly.

Good to see you warming up to Lysell there. Pretty sure it was you and I talking about him about a month ago

Yeah, he has good upside. I obviously only know what I read/see on YouTube, but I've saw some scouts say he has an entitlement/attitude issue. That concerns me a bit.

I think thats based off his determination to play Mens. I feel that can be viewed both ways depending on which way you look at it. Kirby Dach was determined to play NHL in a similar manner so I'm on the glass half full side of things.
