I assume you expect to resign Forsberg with that package, what are you expecting there?

NSH declines

If NSH declines they would be INSANE....

That is a HORRIBLE deal for NJD.

He's an expiring contract next summer for a prospect that had an amazing year in Mercer (won the defensive forward for the Q I believe) while racking up numbers AND the NYI 1st? The Devils aren't even a playoff team, yet and this doesn't make them one, that would be an AWFUL use of assets.
Devil liked this.

Deal would have to come with an extension. And once again, we need some actual NHL pieces. Can’t just always say “Holtz, Foote, and Mercer.” Need veterans and he’s only 26

The value is there, NJD would never make this trade. I am a fan of Butcher as well.

But NSH lacks offensive play driving forwards, Forsberg is the only one of the roster, without an immediate replacement it would be a waste. NSH has 3 defensemen all in their 30s, trading a 27 year old forward to start a rebuild is counter productive

Umm it's not out of the realm, but that pick would need to come up a fair amount for the Blues to bite.

I would move it to a third but not more than that. Boqvist has ton of potential

"Ton" is a stretch, he's already 22 and is nowhere near reaching that potential yet.

Mercer was almost a goal per game in the Q while being amazing defensively

Devils should keep him 100%

Well, I'm not putting Foote in the Holtz and Mercer, but Mercer would need to be for a guy still going to RFA. I do not think you know what we have in Mercer...

woah..Mercer? I think fitz said hes untouchable (holtz too).

I think Isles 1st, 2022 2nd, Wood, defense prospect is more reasonable.

You are only proving my point. Large decline in WAR, GAR. His defense has improved but still below par. Those numbers do not warrant a first round pick. If you include his analytics with production and injury history its surprising NSH got more than a 3rd.

RV is known for scoring off the rush, as he did 10x in 18-19. Last 2 seasons he has 4. I hope he turns it around, but I will not miss the slapshot off the rush that rings out of the zone.

I'm not. Betting on his shooting to rebound is a great move by LA and he definitely should not have cost this little.
