Description

Don't like the idea of a Keith trade for the Oilers but it's looking inevitable. Limit his minutes and responsibilities...maybe it works.

Trade is predicated on some current rumours from Friedman that Edmonton wants to maintain its cap flexibility (so Chicago retains a bit) and that Chicago may want Caleb Jones as an incentive to bring Seth Jones to town. Pick is the worse of Chicago's two seconds.

UFA and RFA signings are based on contract projections from Evolving Hockey.

I think Keith’s value will be locker room. Team desperately needs a voice that’s been successful in playoffs and at a high level

What I was hearing was something involving Neal to Chicago. But I didn’t know he was on LTIR so maybe I’m missing something.

I saw a few things mentioning maybe strome getting in the deal as well as Chicago likes Borgstrom and Suter a lot.

Id be curious to know how Chicago fans would view this trade:

Keith + Strome for Neal + Jones + 2022 1st.

I can almost see the wisdom of brining Keith in...almost. But he's just not the player he was and even placed into a softer-minute role I don't see how he isn't a net negative. Sigh.

I think the speculation of Neal being part of the deal is bloggers and armchair GMs trying to find some way to make it seem more palatable - can't see Chicago taking on that cap. The LTIR thing is my "creation" based on some hints that Bob Stauffer has been tossing out on his show that Neal's play has fallen to "Robidas Island" levels. He didn't use that term directly but that was the implication. Not crazy either, IMO which is much better than a buyout, clearly.
