Everything is negative, doom and gloom, and normally I would be on board with that, but.
This is the best run I've ever seen the team go on, and there is something to be proud of here. Will we make it back to the finals next year? No, we won't. Will we make the playoffs next year? I'm not sure, unless a team like Boston or Florida falls off, I don't think so, but what the team just did was special, beating Toronto was a pipe dream, let alone Winnipeg, then Vegas. Most people expected to lose in 5 or 6 to Toronto. Coming into the year the hope was that this team could win a round and make it to the 2nd or MAYBE 3rd round, so now we're getting beat pretty handedly, and yeah it sucks, but now suddenly this team is a disappointment? If I was told at the start of the year, that Montreal would go all the way to the finals, but lose, first I wouldn't believe you, but second, I'd be pretty damn okay with that, this team gave us 3 great rounds of hockey, and memories that I along with many Habs fans will cherish. I'm upset that we are likely going to get swept by Tampa yeah, but I just can't hate this team considering the miracle run they just had, this experience is so valuable for guys like Suzuki, Caufield, KK. Look at how Colorado handled Cale Makar, he came into the playoffs, made a big impact, and then the year after was his rookie year, and it's the same with Caufield. I understand that Price, Weber, Gallagher, and Petry's contracts are heavy, and their best days are behind them, but the future is so bright for our young core in Suzuki, Caufield, KK, Romanov, Evans, and prospects like Guhle, Poehling, Primeau, Norlinder, Mysak. I would like to see Marc Bergevin build on this team, build on the future, and hopefully help this team be successful for the next while.
