Additional Details:
If you did your research, the Blues GM does not want picks and Prospects for Tarasenko. He wants players. So we give you Drouin who scored a 50 point season with the Lightning before joining the Habs. Drouin WANTS to play for us but its become very clear that both the player and organization believe that the stress of playing for his hometown team has got to him and as a result, he hasn't played his best. On another team, he would still get 50 points a season, I guarantee it. We also throw in Chariot, a good defenseman that will bring physicality into the Blues defense. To top it off, we also give the Blues a 2nd (basically a third but whatever) The Blues will also likely retain 2 mil because they only paid him 5.5 mil instead of 7.5 mil for the past two seasons he's been injured.

That's a hell of a price for Eichel: 3 of the last 4 1st rounds picks and the next 2, plus a couple seconds and a b-prospect goalie. Add the fact that we don't know if/when he'll be healthy... that's a bit too rich for me.

Queue the Blues fans saying they don't want Drouin and won't retain, then the Sens fans saying they don't want Byron. Habs are going to have to hang on to those two, at least until we get some more info on Drouin's situation.

Why not at least consider what Buffalo would want in return for Jack Eichel rather than just what you’re prepared to offer? Guhle might be the best asset you’re offering besides Kotkaniemi, but Buffalo already has a ton of left-handed defensemen, and if they draft Power they’ll be adding one more. Your first round pick this year might as well be a second round pick, and your second round pick might as well be a third round pick. I can’t imagine next season’s picks being any higher than 20, which really isn’t very good either.

The reality is if Montreal is serious about trading for Eichel they have to be prepared to give up Kotkaniemi, Caufield, and next year’s first to even begin the conversation. Since I’m sure you would never do that, that pretty much ends any real talk of Eichel playing in Montreal.

I feel like I see a Habs fan post this Byron trade at least once a day. No one is paying you for Byron. He’s an overpaid 4th liner with TWO years left on his deal. He was on waivers again this year. He’s a cap dump. An almost 7m cap dump.

Ottawa got paid a 2nd last year to take on 3.4m for one year from Tampa. You’re trying to give the Sens DOUBLE that salary and you want them to pay you??

You need to pay AT LEAST a 2nd to get someone to even think about taking Byron. And you’re certainly not getting anything back for him.
