Soucy is better than any similar cost UFA LD by a decent margin imo. I would rather pay a modest acquisition cost out of the LD prospect logjam and get the better player in the role.

Don't get me wrong I think he is decent defenseman but I would rather keep Robertson in our pocket for a trade for a center. FA route I would go with Oleksiak.

Im fine with Strome next year and moving Jones who i think has more value right now but maybe im wrong.

I think Jones has more value in our (Ranger fans) minds than he does around the rest of the league. Not to say he doesn't have value, I don't think he has first round value like some people on this site suggest. Now it you told me Jones and a pick for Soucy, I would jump all over that but I would hold Robertson, Schneider, etc. for a youngish center like Dvorak, Hintz, Cirelli, etc.

Would love to acquire Soucy, but not at the expense of Robertson. Overpaying by a wide margin.
