I could see a trade like this but it would have to be Kane for maybe Fowler and Stoner?

Anaheim will want to set themselves up for the expansion draft and both Theo and Montour are exempt.

Not saying it has to be this way but would be more ideal in ANA's eyes

Where is the source for this idea? Very interesting but I agree there would need to be balanced salary moved back and forth to make this work. Maybe a forward they would need to protect That they wouldn't be able to if they got Kane?

Maybe Anaheim doesn't care about that because they are going to deal one of those players in the offseason before the draft. That's what Anaheim radio and fans seem to think. they probably deal Vatanen at the end of the season but they aren't going to break up their core for this playoff run. They do talk everyday about making a move for a forward though - although most of the talk is Duchene.

I think Anaheim wants to keep Fowler as he's currently their best dman and will try figure out the dman issue for expansion during offseason. Right now they are loaded w/ d prospects so I think they'd move one to get a forward for a deep playoff run. As for Buffalo it makes more sense for them to take a dman that wont be exposed to expansion like Theadore or Montour because they already have to protect Risto, Mccabe, and Kulikov if he re-signs while exposing Bogosian, where if they got Fowler then they would be losing a good defenseman for nothing.

If Anaheim trades either Theo or Montour for Kane then it will be the biggest mistake they make since their last big mistake (whenever that was haha). These guys have big time potential.

No way would we take Kane. Murray does some bad deals, see Bieksa's contract as an example but he wouldn't do this without getting something more in return. You have a better chance of getting Stoner before you get Theodore.

its been a pretty persistent rumor throughout the NHL that Murray (ANA) wants Kane.

Depends what they get. I dont think this would be the return they are looking for if they are pushing, but if the get a LHD that is an improvement in their top 4 they can bring up Nylander and try to plug that hole. Stability at D will help immensely, if you want to see playoff hockey.
