I still don't think they make this deal. Schmidt isn't exactly the player Philly is looking for

What are the Flyers looking for then? Schmidt is a LHD but prefers to play RD if that makes a difference.

They're looking for a guy who can come in a fill the 1D role ideally preferably right handed they do need more than one dman but I just don't think Schmidt would be a good partner for either Provorov or Sanheim. He might work with Provorov but him and Sanheim play a similar game

I think Schmidt would work better with Provorov than Sanheim. Provorov - Schmidt as a pairing keeps to great two-way defenseman on the ice. Sanheim probably needs a defensive minded partner.

The problem with the deal isn't Schmidt to the Flyers which might interest them if they strike out on other options. The problem is that the value is terrible. Vancouver got him for a 3rd round pick. Schmidt had a down year and Vancouver wants to move him for cap space. Somebody really needs to explain why they think the Flyers should or would give up Patrick, Myers, and the better pick in a mind round swap for him. I've seen several proposals on here of Schmidt to the Flyers and the vast majority of them are for a 2nd or 3rd round pick which is about the best Vancouver could expect.

Sorry to the roster creator but this is simply not a well thought out or realistic trade in any way shape or form.

Vancouver would prefer to keep Schmidt, but there are rumours that he's requested a trade.

The reason Vancouver only gave up a 3rd for him was because Vegas was way over the cap after signing Pietrangelo and had like one day to clear cap space. Schmidt wanted to go to Vancouver and Vegas respected that, hence the terrible return for him.

Schmidt struggled a lot in the first half of the year but showed quite well for the last half/third. He's still a great top-4 defenseman and his value is much higher than just a 3rd.
