To protect Butcher from ED, I assume the protection list for D is Severson, Graves, Subban\Butcher, this allows you to protect Butcher and get assets for Subban. I have seen a lot of Subban trades lately.

I don't see where getting a 2nd and good prospect back is "paying" but ok also I did say that Montreal might have to add either Harris or Struble to the deal.

*EDIT* so essentially its 3 3rds for Subban half retained and a late 1st. Show me a better Subban deal!

NJ doesn't need to lose Subban for cap relief ... if anything, they need him for 20 min a night.

Siegenthaler will be protected over Subban/Butcher imo. We will know soon.

Butcher is on the outs in NJ. Id be surprised if they protected him over PK.

If this trade happened, I think Subban at 4.5 million AAV is a good pick up. He was solid last year. Middle or bottom pair, he can contribute.

We are more likely to trade Butcher than protect him.
