Ext. Sparks

We have the assets to move up in the draft from all our “extra” players to get the players we need. Specifically LW and Goalies. Draft Vaselainen and whoever you can get your hands on for goalies in the second round. As many as possible.

This would set our forwards lines and defence pairings for another decade with realistically only kadri needing to be replaced as he ages. Otherwise nobody on the forwards lines is older than 24. Defence would also be set for a near decade with the oldest being Gardiner at 26 but replaceable with the likes of Dermott and other draft picks for the next ten years. Goalies is and has been a crapshoot but for now Anderson seems to be a capable starter and Woll or anybody we draft this year as a potential heir to the throne. This team would be a perennial playoff team and a cup contender within the next year or two.

I have to say, as a Sabre fan, that seems like a fair trade for Hamilton.

I like where you're going, but you have to put more thought into the trades. Carolina knows what they have in Pesce. His numbers and crazy and he's so nice on the eyes. To an internal cap team like the Canes, no way are two fourth liners and a 3rd round pick gonna get him out of there. You're looking at something like a first and Dermott. Then MAYBE Carolina are interested.

Hamilton tade is interesting. Also Bracco would need to impress. Minny are high on Ek.

Pesce is a solid bottom four pairing defensemen no arguing that but suggesting Dermott and a 1st for him is a bit much, Dermott himself has the potential to be just as good if not better. He is also 2 years younger and for defensemen those two years are crucial for developments, most defensemen make the jump around 21-22 if they are going to amount to something. Also Leivo and Soshnikov are competing for jobs on wings with the likes of JVR,Marner, Nylander,Brown,Komarov and Hyman. Carolina doesn't have that kind of depth. Them being fourth liners on the leafs is more a result of the leafs depth on the wing rather then their own lack of ability. On Carolina they would be third line players. Essentially Carolina gets two thirds of their third line all on entry level contracts at the expense of a right hand defensemen not likely to amount to anything more then their third pairing due to their depth. Both teams make a deal from a position of strength to shore up their future middle pairing and middle 6. So there was quite some thought put into the trade actually. As for looks, we have Lupul..are u giving us this year or next years first round pick.

Also Bracco already impressed. His line with Minnesota's Kunin and Greenway was dominant in the junior World Cup. They give up a centre that they are high on but get a high end piece to round out what could potentially be their first or second line in the near future.

Take a look at Pesce's minutes. To say hes a bottom 4 guys is literally ignoring that hes playing top 2 minutes right now. With positive possession numbers. You're right, its is a bit much to give them a first and Dermott, but carolina doesn't want to trade Pesce at all. Thats why you overpay. I feel like faulk is a much more approachable target

I'll keep JEE over Bracco. Wild have pretty good depth at wings in the NHL and in the system. Center depth isn't there outside of JEE. Kunin might be better as a wing than a center.

If you want to compare WJC's JEE was more impressive. 1C, captain of his team, more points, was Sweden's best player. Bracco had a nice tourney too, but not as good as JEE's.

JEE is NHL ready. He'd be on the Wild this year if they had needed a 3C. He got sent back to SHL basically for the contract slide. He's slated to be Koivu's replacement as a 1/2C.
