SEA
    Gabriel Landeskog 8 Year Deal

You need a captain and a superstar. This guy can be your 1LW for the next 6+ years. Give him 8 years and let him retire here.
    COL
    2.
    SEA
    1. Price, Carey
    Additional Details:
Huge contract, yes. But Carey Price is coming off a SCF loss with a Conn Smythe caliber performance in the first three rounds. If you want to be competitive, you take Price. Another big name to add to the roster.
    MTL
    3.
    SEA
      Chris Driedger

Not much to think about here. He's going to Seattle.
      FLA
      4.
      SEA
      1. McCann, Jared
      Additional Details:
If there is no sort of protection deal in place, you take McCann. Great option in the middle 6, 3C or 2LW/3LW
      TOR
      5.
      SEA
      1. Bean, Jake [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
Great young LHD who can play regular minutes.
      CAR
      6.
      SEA
      1. Dunn, Vince [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
Young top 4 D who can move the puck and log decent minutes.
      STL
      7.
      SEA
      1. Fischer, Christian
      Additional Details:
Not a ton of attractive options from Arizona. Went with a bottom 6 forward on a cheap deal who has a ceiling of being a top 9 guy.
      ARI
      8.
      SEA
      1. Stecher, Troy
      Additional Details:
Cheap bottom pair RHD. Good enough for me out of Detroit.
      DET
      9.
      SEA
      1. Gambrell, Dylan
      Additional Details:
Can't have too many centers! Taking a guy who can center the fourth line or be an extra forward on a cheap deal. RFA after this season, too.
      SJS
      10.
      SEA
      1. Benson, Tyler [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
Surprised he's eligible to be picked, but there's not a ton of options out of Edmonton. Going with him over Kahun as I think Benson is more likely to be a long term piece in Seattle, but not a part of the team year 1.
      EDM
      11.
      SEA
      1. Gourde, Yanni
      Additional Details:
Here's your 2C for your first four years. Playoff performer, too. Easy pick.
      TBL
      12.
      SEA
      1. Gostisbehere, Shayne
      Additional Details:
Originally wanted Braun, but Ghost is younger and has a higher ceiling. Think there's a decent chance he ends up rebounding a bit in a different organization.
      PHI
      13.
      SEA
      1. Bastian, Nathan
      Additional Details:
Good depth option, young and cheap with potential to put up points.
      NJD
      14.
      SEA
      1. DeMelo, Dylan
      Additional Details:
RHD options are slim. This is a guy who can log top 4 minutes under contract for 3 years at a reasonable cap hit. I take him over Appleton after thinking it over.
      WPG
      15.
      SEA
      1. Kähkönen, Kaapo
      Additional Details:
Cheapest option on the team and has potential to be a 1B goalie in Seattle or flipped elsewhere for high value.
      MIN
      16.
      SEA
      1. Bailey, Josh
      Additional Details:
It was between Bailey and Eberle. Bailey is 500k cheaper and put up a couple more points. Both are the same age. I like Bailey as a 1RW.
      NYI
      17.
      SEA
      1. Stenlund, Kevin
      Additional Details:
Another young depth forward with good upside. Cheap contract. We need those.
      CBJ
      18.
      SEA
      1. Lind, Kole [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
Probably plays in the AHL next season, but he has high upside. Not a ton of options in Vancouver.
      VAN
      19.
      SEA
      1. Lauzon, Jérémy
      Additional Details:
Hard to pass on Lauzon for the cap hit and the minutes he can log. Potential top 4 D-man here, despite the stat line.
      BOS
      20.
      SEA
      1. Johansen, Ryan
      Additional Details:
Possibly an unpopular pick, but Johansen is young enough to still turn his career back around to the trajectory he was on when he was young and playing in Columbus. Play him at 1C next to Landeskog and Bailey and I think he could put up 60 points.

Plus, Nashville probably pays you to take him.
      NSH
      21.
      SEA
      1. Sheary, Conor
      Additional Details:
As a caps fan who has followed the team closely, this pick is a tossup. Yes, it might be Vanecek. Maybe it should be Vanecek. Schultz is an option too. I think there are enough better goalie options that you round out your middle 6 forward group with Sheary. He can play anywhere from the fourth line to your top line. He can play PP2 minutes. He's also on a team friendly deal for his production. Worth a look, but wouldn't be surprised to see VV taken instead. Given the team makeup so far, Sheary makes more sense.
      WSH
      22.
      SEA
      1. Daccord, Joey
      Additional Details:
Young goalie who may turn out to be a project that pays dividends. Cheap, low risk goalie who could end up being a backup depending on how the goalie situation shakes out in Seattle. Not many options in Ottawa, so this one makes the most sense to me.
      OTT
      23.
      SEA
      1. Pettersson, Marcus
      Additional Details:
Another controversial selection I'm sure, but if I didn't take Pettersson, I was taking Gio in Calgary. I like Pettersson more as a steady long-term option to play in your top 4. Had a down year, but I think he can bounce back in another organization (or even if he stays with the Pens).

Also, your other options are Tanev, DeSmith, and Zucker. I like Pettersson over all of them, after thinking about it.
      PIT
      24.
      SEA
      1. Fleury, Haydn
      Additional Details:
Low risk, potentially high reward? Not likely to be anything more than a bottom pair defenseman, but I would take my chances with Fleury over dropping 5.8 mil on Henrique.
      ANA
      25.
      SEA
      1. Kylington, Oliver [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
I like the potential Kylington has over Giordano. Giordano is a little too expensive. I prefer to use that cap space elsewhere.
      CGY
      26.
      SEA
      1. Athanasiou, Andreas [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
Versatile player who seems to provide a decent bottom 6 scoring presence. Went with him over Lemieux and Wagner due to the higher offensive potential and I like his speed.
      LAK
      27.
      SEA
      1. Kero, Tanner
      Additional Details:
Young, cheap, and has NHL experience. Could slot into a bottom 6 role with potential for more in the future.
      DAL
      28.
      SEA
      1. Gauthier, Julien
      Additional Details:
Not much to add here, just another young cheap depth option. Not many options in NY.
      NYR
      29.
      SEA
      1. Borgen, William [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
Nothing flashy in Buffalo. Thought about Girgensons, but opted for the cheaper and younger RHD.
      BUF
      30.
      SEA
      1. Zadorov, Nikita [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
Zadorov has the highest value, but I don't keep him. He doesn't fit on the team, but Chicago doesn't have many options. I flip him to a team needing defensive depth and needing to get bigger.
      CHI
      31.
      SEA

You can’t put Lind in the AHL, he won’t clear waivers and the Canucks will take him right back

Who said that? I find it hard to believe that Landeskog didn’t even get an offer.

I trust Lebrun's reporting. I actually just did searching and saw that they talked but it seems like Francis didn't like the number Landeskog put out there.

I think it's a bad move to not take Landy. That's a captain in the prime of his career who could be a huge piece of the franchise. Maybe they make a final offer tomorrow, we'll see. If not, Compher or Donskoi are the two I look at, then I look at adding a guy like JVR or Voracek instead with the cap space saved. We'll have to see.

all the insiders have Compher pegged to Seattle for tomorrow,

Seattle is more interested in Price and his 10m cap hit over giving Landy 9m-10m aav. I believe the Seattle plan is to avoid long term contracts to give them cap flexibility, DOnt see them going after guys with massive term or high aavs

It’s pretty contradictory (and no lie, pretty stupid) to take Price instead of Landeskog. If you don’t want high cap hits with term, take neither guy. Take Landeskog if you only want 1 of them. Head scratcher for sure. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

Marketing is the draw with price, they think he would be the Face of the franchise, being from the pacific north west, playing junior hockey in the area.

Don’t get me wrong it’s dumb to prioritize price over offering Landy a contract but that’s what the seem to being doing
