Can't believe they picked MacDermid. Unless there's something we don't know but I doubt

It's possible the Kings gave up a late round pick or something to get them to take MacDermid. Probably not though.

This probably means Lemieux sticks around.

Seriously, how do you not take Grundstrom or Clague...someone with upside.

They’re going to have to make some trades real soon now that expansion is done. They have way too many 4th liners taking space and Blake needs to get a bit more aggressive using waivers if he can’t find trades for all of them.

Who are all these extra 4th liners? The 4th line will likely be Grundstrom-JAD-Moore to start the season since they were playing well together at the end of last season. That leaves Lizotte, Wagner, and Lemieux. I suspect Athanasiou won't be qualified and will become a UFA.

Your lineup doesn’t include Frk, AA, and Tkachev. I expect AA to just not be signed. There will also be another player to move down when we sign a FA. I count at least 2 forwards that would have to be waived and only if Tkachev starts in Ontario. 3 would need to be waived or sent down with another player coming in. They’re all decent in their roles, there’s just too many. That also means no promotion for Kaliyev, Kupari, and Turcotte because there’s no room.

I don't think Frk plays another game in a Kings sweater. The Kings put him through waivers when he returned from injury last season, and I expect they'll do the same again this year, unless he has a phenomenal training camp. Either way, he's not a 4th liner.

Tkachev will be waiver exempt and will likely follow the same path that Prokhorkin did when he came over. He'll start the year in Ontario and will potentially work his way up into the lineup.

Byfield will very likely be loaned to the WJC for 6-8 weeks in Nov-Dec, so that will make room for Turcotte to come up. There will also be inevitable injuries to cover for.

So Frk will be waived, but who are the other two guys that need to go?
