why don't the Blues just take out the middle man and get that value straight from Philadelphia

I don't think they want that retention plus taking on Voracek's big contract in addition. Seattle can afford to do that comfortably. Donskoi is actually a solid player. I think they'd rather have him and his 3.9 mil AAV and cap relief.

That production was out of the D-class of Spokane Polytechnic Middle School.
Doesn't help that Ron-Mr.Bland-Francis & Dave-Yawn-Hakstol are at the helm either - zzzzzz.

I was saying St. Louis doesn't want to do the retention. Not Seattle. Seattle is retaining lots of money in my example here. From Tarasenko and Giordano.
