Description

Cap dump 101. Giving up assets to get cap space. Nate Schmidt is NOT an asset, he is the cap dump in this situation. Same if I were to use Holtby instead. (The asset would have less value in a holtby situation, as his cap hit is less). The team taking on salary does not give up anything. Not unless there is a lot of value in the asset given up. Hence a 2nd in the trade below. Now, we could give a little more, but I'm too lazy to change it, so live with it. If you don't feel like giving up assets in a cap dump, thats fine. Just don't make that trade.

That’s the position JB has put them in. It’s easy for people to look at hockeydb and make an uniformed decision, especially last season when it’s likely a fan from another division didn’t watch said player play a single game.
