Turn this into a power draft

Created by: CMac66
Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 24, 2021
Published: Jul. 24, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With their next 2 high 2nds, any cominbination of these players would be nice additions. I put them in order or priority. I think one of the centres is necessary and I would love Pastujov. I think Pinelli will be gone so a Pastujov then Salminen pick would be delightful!

So this means none of them will get picked by the Sens and Dorion will pick a guy like Scott Morrow or Matthew Knies... thaaaat's Dorion!

I think guys like Pinelli and Pastujov are gone pretty early today but the guy I desperately want to see at 39 is Aatu Raty. I doubt he'll be there still, but I think despite his tough season, the tools are all there, he just needs the right fit to help him re-find his game, and if he does it could be massive for Ottawa. I imagine they will add a C and an RHD with those two 2nds, so if you can by some miracle get Raty, I imagine they look at one of Scott Morrow or Roman Schmidt.

Instead of Raty I'd rather have Salminen. His developmental curve seems easier to predict. Both would be OK with me haha

Can I interest you in Zack Ostapchuk?

😂😂😂. I was dying laughing thinking about what we just talked about. I almost crashed my car after I heard Roger pulling into my driveway.
Sure I'll take a flyer on an Ostapchuk. Sounds like a species of tree

The Sens used pick 10 on a 2nd rounder and both their 2nds on 4th rounders. It’s like Dorion is scrolling down the list and drafting by biggest size. Or only taking the guys that scouting reports describe as a power forward.

I can't believe they passed on Raty three times.*

*I can totally believe it, I'm just annoyed beyond belief

Yeah totally. I mean I get his building strategy. And frankly I like it. Big, hard hitting, fast. But man take guys like this after round 2. I don't mind Boucher, he looks like a monster. There's just too many potential higher skilled guys (that also have size!) available. I wouldn't mind a trade up. 3rd plus a prospect into the end of round 2.
Salminen, pastujov, Dach still around, bored, wanting to go to an up and coming team

I'm trying not to fall into the trap of having strongly negative takes on draft day, but it'd be nice to just once have my reaction to a Sens pick be "hell yeah" and not "who?". Just once I'd like them to take a chance on a high skilled guy who's fallen Slightly instead of sticking to the same mold.

If this ain’t me lol, I woulda loved to be my family yesterday, because my reaction to the first pick was hilarious. I heard “from the USA development program” and I yelled yessss and did a fist pump because I thought that meant Lucius. Then they said Tyler Boucher and I spun around and said “who the f*** is that” lmao

Being a Canes fan on draft weekend seems like an absolute blast. Every pick is the pick the fans want, and they basically all look like they could be good players

Koivunen was the first guy that was a bit of a stretch in 3 years, and even then it was only a mid-3rd going in the mid-2nd. They somehow get all the steals (3rd and 4th best RDs in this draft, Gunler last year, Honka the year before)

There's still going to be a decently skilled guy for sens in the 3rd... Hopefully we 'take a chace' on a player that play the hockey game

I can't wait to see who the Habs pick.

And as the king daddy topper, sens draft a 21 year old winger still playing in junior. My goodness. Maybe he's great but how could you not move back for this. Crazy.

Believe you might be looking at one of the twenty other Oliver Johanssons on Elite Prospect. The one Ottawa has taken is the 17 year old playing in the Timra system

Will be joining Victor Lodin in Timra this season, who will be moving up from the 2nd tier league to the Tip Swedish League.

I like this pick a good amount. Didn't play much, but was strong when he did. Will have opportunities on Timra who will be losing their top offensive dynamo Jonathan Dahlen.
