Forgot to sign Perry. You can also expect a RHD UFA signing on a short term deal imo. Norlinder will be a great one and O seriously think MTL is expecting him to perform during the camp

They would definitely match that but I’m sure they wouldn’t be happy about it they still need to pay Hughes and Elias

Youll be in a tough spot to sign Hughes and Petey tho.

What if I offer 6,166,000$ over 1 year? Would you still be able to match that?

I'm not a Canucks fan. But as noted, they simply cannot let him just walk after taking on the OEL nightmare AND trading away 9oa.

Is this not what they expect to sign Garland for anyways? If he signs for $5 million, then the Canucks are in the same situation as before the trade, where they were still able to sign Petey and Hughes.

Ive seen many ACGM where they sign him at around 4 millions. My os might be a little low tho. Thats why I made another at around 6,2 for 1 year. Also, even right now, they have to trade one of Holtby or Schmidt in order to have enough cap. And that will cost them. OS Garland will only put pressure on them and they might get stucked losing Garland because of the compensations that will be asked by other teams to take on Schmidt and/or Holtby (price that will necessarily go up after the OS).

I’m not a Canucks fan but I just don’t see a scenario where Garland isn’t on there opening day roster after giving up a top 10 pick for him

Also why would the canadiens want another right handed winger they need to find a Weber replacement paying 6 million for a 20-25 goal scorer is a massive overpay and just isn’t smart they made the finals because of there rock solid defense anchored by Weber

We need another top 6 winger with skills to pair with KK. Toffoli played LW all year long and Anderson was great at LW during the playoffs. Garland style of play also fit playing on his offside. Concerning the RHD, theres no high caliber d available, so Id rather spend money on a winger. Also, hes only signed at 6,1 for one year in another acgm that ive made. That way, VAN can hardly match it, hes still a RFA in one year and if a young RHD becomes available next summer, we can package Garland (if hes asking for too much) for him.

There are many other more realistic options in free agency when was the last time a team signed a big name RFA? Like it just doesn’t happen
