Funny you say that the Canucks have to sure their Dmen, then you trade a 5.9m Schmidt away hoping someone bites. Doubt if any team wants his contract without giving similar money to Canucks
Hughes, OEL, Myers, and Schmnidt make 27m....Canucks better hope they are good top 4. I don't know of any team that more invested in their top four Dmen, except for maybe the out of playoffs Sharks.

I disagree, I'd love Schmidt. But they need to retain and take Komarov and Hickey. I don't think that's such a ridiculous ask.

If theres retention thats something else. In terms of leo and hickey, you have to think past this year. 6 million for a non top pair dman is an overpay plain and simple. And schmidt is not a top pair guy.

I agree he's not a top-pairing guy, but when he was in Vegas he was an ideal #3. The way he plays I think would complement Dobson very well.

But yeah, it has to be the exact right situation for NYI cap-wise.
