Prediction or wishful thinking?

Personally speaking that DET deal is bad for Leafs and the NJ deal doesn't make sense for neither team.

1st round exit is too much for you or something? - this team doesn't even make playoffs and you significantly overpay for mediocre assets.

6 year range for Bertuzzi you're easily looking at $5,000,000 if not closer to $5,500,000 he's exactly Zach Hyman.

Serious question, I agree the trades aren't perfectly balanced, but what about this team is significantly worse than last year?

Hamilton provides a point shot in place of Rielly. Wood and Bertuzzi provide some grit for the top lines with some skill. I actually think this person assembled an interesting team.

What are your thoughts?

Knowing him Bertuzzi will be unhappy in Toronto

I mean on paper it works to an extent, but it's a very EA sports game way to do it.

Moving a player for assets and then replacing the same player with an UFA is something that pretty much never happens in real life because unlike in chel where there's only one actual human controlling those things with 31 AI's, the real life has 32 actual GMs trying to do the same to an extent, which is why it never works.

Not to mention it's unrealistic to think Hamilton and Bertuzzi signed such contracts or NJ retained salary on wood.

In general I just don't understand the point in 95% of Leafs posts where they move players of lower import and refill those slots with pretty much similar level players like it actually would bring a huge difference. This is not where the problem lies in Toronto if you ask me.
