Landeskog is a winger, that's way too low for Kotkaniemi, Suter doesn't want to play in Canada and it doesn't make sense for Weber to recruit him when Weber will be on LTIR or retired, you'd have to pay someone to take Byron, and you're over the cap.

You don't have to trade Weber. Putting him on LTIR removes his cap hit. Even if his career is over, I want him in the organization.

Byron isn't going to bring much of a return, if anything. Remember he went through waivers last season unclaimed. Two 3rd's is unreasonable.

Landeskog is a winger ...

A winger that has somehow managed to take 2000 facoffs in the last 4 seasons and averaged 56% the last 2 years.

He takes a lot of faceoffs because Mackinnon is garbage on the draw, but he plays on the wing. If you're going to do that in Montreal you need to have a natural centre on his line, which is not what this post is proposing.

Mackinnon over the course of his career so far has averaged about 50% on the draw. I don’t get how that is garbage. If anything it is average. While some players are better on the draw, most players bat .500 over the course of their entire career. So if most players go about .500, by your logic all of those players are garbage on the draw. While Landeskog primarily plays LW, he can also play C, just like Mackinnon can play RW. Players are not limited to knowing how to play just one position. Take Pysyk, he can play both on the blue line as well as the wing.

Mackinnon was about 42-43% before COL started using Landeskog more strategically on faceoffs. But you agree that Landeskog is primarily a LW? K cool.

Also... comparing Pysyk to this is silly. He's not the first and won't be the last defenceman to be used as a winger.

Doesn't mean it couldn't work.
Landeskog isn't going to Montreal anyway, but they have young centers who could use someone capable in the circle to back them up.

Broom. Toasted.
