honestly, i dont see how chevy will have the money to bring in a better back up. I also dont really expect him to sign tatar but i grew up a big wings fan so i wanted to run the numbers and see if there was cap room for him. I also dont see how pionk gets a big pay day this summer, theres no cap space anywhere in the league and he's an RFA. He'll get a bridge deal and then chevy will re-sign copp

There isnt a chance in france that Pionk signs for three and a half.

I can't see him signing for less than $5 at the absolute minimum. Morrissey's $6.25M is probably realistic IMO

Not sure about that. He’d improve the top 6 during the regular season... but by April, I’m think Prefetti will have a second year of post draft development under his belt and be ready to step into the top 9 on the Jets. This would put Tatar in the press box for the playoffs.

I just don’t see what he brings that Prefetti won’t by April.

And I don't think Perfetti will be ready to play at all this upcoming season, also Wheeler is no longer a top 6 winger and Stastny isn't the player he once was either, question marks around PLD, Copp and Vesalainen says to me that yes this team needs another top 6 winger/forward if it wants to do anything next season.

I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree.

Prefetti may not be ready, that is a risk, but by April, with a full season or development in the AHL, I won’t bet against him. He is special from a maturity, self awareness and drive perspective.

Wheeler is a solid second line RW. Ignore his stats last season when he was injured. He’s not a top line winger, but he’s still a top 50 RW.

PLD struggled, so did dozens of players last year. He’s very young, and I would take him as a #2 center over 1/2 the league’s #2 Center for next season without hesitating.

Copp, he’s in his prime, what contract will he want and get is the question, but slotting him into a middle 6, PK role is perfect. That’s what he is. Is Tatar better offensively, yup, defensively...not even close.

Stastny is still a very decent middle 6 forward. Is he a top player, nope, is he smarter (hockey IQ) than most players, yup. Will he contribute next year, I won’t bet against him. Though next year is a risk, i’d rather have him than Tatar at the same cap hit and 1-year term.

Is Tatar a good player, yup, would he add to a top 6, top 9, yup on 25+ teams including the Jets.

Do I want to understand why not one, but two, teams had him in the press box in the playoffs...without a doubt. There has to be something there. Montreal needed offensive creativity against TB, but he still didn’t play... why???

On a 1 year min deal, he’d be amazing. On a multi-year deal that costs the Jets Copp... hard no from my perspective.

And I think the Jets can ‘do something’ without another top 6 forward. They have enough potential top 6 forwards that 2-4 could struggle but all they need is one of the 4-6 players available now to step into the role and own it. Draft, Develop, Perform. Lots of the Ds, need to see who grabs the P.

Yeah we will have to agree to disagree, don't see much the same as you do.

I'm not sold on Perfetti yet at all, best place for him is in the AHL for the full season, maybe a few games at the end of the year for a look.

I think Wheeler is a 3rd liner now, I know he was injured but the decline in his play is evident.

I'm sure PLD will rebound, if he doesn't that what Stastny is for, I just would want a bit more insurance in the top 6 in case he doesn't and for any further decline from Wheeler and Stasnty if it happens.
I'm hopeful Vesalainen can pickup any slack from a drop-off from those two 35 year olds but he has yet to score an NHL goal so again I'd rather have someone proven like a Tatar.

And I think both Vegas and the Habs errored in not having him in the lineup, also I read that he may have been injured which was why he wasn't in for the Habs but idk for sure, regardless both those teams lost, not saying they would've with him in the lineup but they did lose, coaches make decisions all the time that are questioned by us so I see that as no different.

I could care less what happens with Copp, I hope he goes to be honest, has gotten really overrated in Jets circles and he quit in the Habs series. I don't like Copp in the top six at all, he's a clear 3rd liner in my eyes.

Simply put coming back with essentially the same forward group isn't good enough imo, we can agree to disagree but that's how I see it.

I think this forward group is stale, something needs to change and grabbing two dmen was unnecessary when Heinola is clearly ready.
I have faith that Heinola is ready to be a top 4 dman, I'm not convinced any of the Jets forward prospects are ready to be a top six contributor, I'm really hoping Vesalainen takes off though, they really need him to.
