In one sense, it doesnt matter(The Jets are looking for vets and he is still available) but in the other sense, there are a lot of 35+ years olds taking 1M contracts and that may be what he does

I don't think Copp signs at $3.5 million after a career year. This year will be worse for him in terms of points, as he will probably not see much time on the 2nd line. I think he gets traded.

So he takes a year contract and goes to UFA. He did only make 2.2M so he shouldnt get that much of a raise during arbitration

Jets would likely trade him rather than walk him to UFA. Its either term or trade for Copp.

One option is a 1-year deal. Jets can then use the 8th year to resign him as a UFA next year, and save their 22/23 1st round picks trying to acquire a versatile middle six winger at the trade deadline.

I won’t be shocked if he ends up in arbitration.

i agree bet he gets close to 5 if he goes to arb Chevy should sign Stanley and Pionk then trade Copp abd look at some of these UFA;s or this teanm will not make the playoffs

Arbitration award will be for one year. If a middle six forward is the difference between making the playoffs and not, Chevy should trade most of the top 6 and start the rebuild now. (FYI - I think this team competes for playoffs with or without Copp)
