Description

- Resign Krejci or use that 4 mil to get another 2C in a trade. Cant expect to win a cup with the current forwards.

- With Hamilton signing with the Devils, I think it is possible to pry away Severson who is a solid 2 way player. Can also fill in for Carlo if his injury issues persist. Bolstering the defense will be very important to help bring along Swayman and let Ullmark find his game.

- Would love to bring back Rask, but cant wait around until February. Need to use that money to improve the back end.

We're most likely not trading Severson still. Counter would be DeBrusk, Frederic, Clifton, and 2022 1st for Severson and 2022 3rd or 4th

Between mcavoy and carlo on the right side you’ve got probably 44 minutes a night spoken for on the right side. Makes zero sense to use that kind of cap, and trade assets to get a 4.16 million bottom pair D with Clifton and zboril sitting there capable of playing those kinds of minutes.

2 years for krejci seems about as likely as 8 years for krejci.

Severson is just too good and would cost too much to get to then play him as a 3rd pair guy. I'm not super worried about the goaltending honestly. Ullmark can play and swayman is coming along great. The krecji sized hole on the 2nd line is obviously the issue.

Clifton and Zboril are not the answers everyone saw that last year. Both can be 7D but arent the top 6D quality of a stanley cup team. That combined with Carlo's injury history is what makes Severson worth it. 1 injury to Carlo and the Bruins are right back where they were against the Islanders. Where else would you spend that cap? Forwards are deep enough with Krejci or a similarly priced 2C. Only area left is on defense and there arent many options available.

Keep it for the deadline. Keep it for tuukka. Upgrade the left side. Pretty much anything but giving up a ton of trade capital to have a 7.16 million bottom pair. Horrid cap/asset management and roster contraction. In a cap era you just can’t do that.
