Eichels realistic value right now Read Deacription

Created by: CuyahogaKid
Team: 2021-22 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 30, 2021
Published: Jul. 30, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Right now there are three major problems with an Eichel deal:

#1 the injury…..Eichel’s may not be ready to go to start the season, and he may not even be available For either 6-8 weeks if he has the surgery he wants, or the fusion surgery which is a 4-6 month recovery.

#2. Cap space. Cap space is king right now. And few teams have the assets with the cap space. Minnesota for example has the prospects, but they are in cap hell in the next three years. Vegas also just added players to their team, they would need to make space to make a deal

3. Disconnect of value.

Adams is pricing him as healthy, opposing teams are pricing him as damaged/hurt. Adams knows if he trades Eichel and comes up short, he’ll be fired. Opposing GMs know if they make such a deal and don’t get results, they too will be fired.

Adams is correct, there is no pressure to trade him. He has a contract and he also still needs to get healthy and may not be available to until the winter. Holding him until the deadline or the off-season before July 1sf may be the best move here.
Trades
BUF
  1. Brisson, Brendan [Reserve List]
  2. Hague, Nicolas
  3. Smith, Reilly
  4. 2022 1st round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
This is a realistic valuation of an “injured” Eichel right now that Buffalo rejects but opposing team are comfortable with in his current state.

So Buffalo just sits on Eichel then. He can't go anywhere for 5 years. And if he doesn't play Buffalo just tanks so... Why should they lose twice?

NMC kicks in so if you want to move him it has to be before next season or he can be a major hemorrhoid

He would still have more value by the trade deadline or next June at the 2022 Draft since he will be healthy by then. The injury is the big problem right now. Teams don’t wa t to give up assets for a guy who won’t be available for months, unless they figure something out with his treatment and he’s available in the fall

I don't see Eichel being a TDL move. It's a huge contract to try and make the cap work for Playoff teams, and the non-Playoff teams will be looking to sell off their own players.

I think we'll see him moved in November when teams have seen him on the ice and skating. There is always huge risk attached to big names with major injuries. But then again, it's Eichel. Jack Eichel. A top 10 center in the league. Guys like that are rarely if ever on the market unless they are FA or play in Ottawa (sigh)...

Ottawa did bring in and pull the trigger on the Duchene trade but Duchene was healthy. If a team can wait for him to return and if a team is ok with him having the surgery he wants which is a fast recovery. It’s tough to bring a guy in when you’re trying to contend no Matter how good he is if he’s hurt.

Accurate, honest analysis -- in a word, great job. Oops, that's two words. Really great job. Ooops, that's three words.

Buffalo should just wait and prove that he can play before trading him.
