I think you could get a 2nd from Holl and probably 2 3rds from Kerfoot.

That's a dumb way to look at it. We got McCann for a 7th a B prospect. We did so to protect Holl who has been effective and makes 2 million, knowing we could lose McCann or Kerfoot. Similar players making somewhat close money. It ended up being McCann and that meant we kept our roster intact. So the best way to look at the expansion draft is we lost a 7th and Hallinder. A very small price.

McCann is just another depth guy. Not much separates him from Kerfoot and losing a top 4 defenceman who has played great with Muzzin to keep a depth forward that can be easily replaceable is stupid. This is classic bending reality to justify your hatred of the leafs. All because Lou sucks

Why are choosing to ignore the facts? The charts are right there. Kerfoot sucks, he’s a 4th liner. Holl is not a top 4 defenseman, he gets carried by Muzzin.

I don’t hate the leafs, I just think Dubas is a trash GM. His moves over the last year have been awful. He’s wasting Matthews prime years, which is why he’ll probably walk.

Depth guy Jared McCann was on pace for 61 points last season with incredible underlying metrics. Kerfoot was on pace for 33 points with awful underlying metrics. They are not comparable

I love these responses, Kerfoot is trash because people want him to be. He's bounced all over the lineup and has been able to help out all over the place. Hasn't scored as many points as some had hoped but he's good defensively. Is very fast and can play anywhere in the lineup. He doesn't suck, but he isn't a star. Just a decent depth guy. Good enough and he did have a terrific playoffs.

Holl gets carried by Muzzin, sure whatever man. Doesn't take away from the fact he is absolutely effective with Muzzin. He's big, can skate and doesn't hurt you at all. Of course you'll hit back and say something like, he's no Hedman, like that is a reasonable response. Trashing a guy because he isn't something while ignoring what he is, is just typical.

You think Dubas is trash likely for 2 reasons, one he is doing things differently than pretty much all the other GM's and also you like are one of the many who blame him for stuff that was completely not his fault. Like the Marleau trade, yeah he paid a hefty fee to move him, thanks Lou for signing him.

Neither does much without better linemates. McCann will show what he's made of this season in Seattle and it won't be anything special.

No I think Dubas is trash because he does things the same way as many old school GMs (overpay for grit, doesn’t have a clear direction) . Overpaid Simmonds, gave up a 1st for 4th liner nick Foligno. The Rittich trade was terrible, Exposed McCann in the expansion draft. Dubas is not this forward thinking analytical GM. He’s a lot closer to Brian Burke than Joe Sakic

McCann didn’t have great linemates. He played with guys like kapanen, Jeff carter, Jason zucker. McCann is better than all of them. McCann is a high end 2nd liner.

Over the past 3 seasons McCann has been in the 94th percentile in overall impact. Dubas decided it was more important to protect a #6 D over him. That’s some sh*t that ken Holland/Jim benning would pull. Dubas went with a big unskilled defenseman over a skilled top 6 . winger . Facts
