You're right. It's an easy no. Value isn't there.

It's not. Sharks aren't a good fit for Eichel but if we we're to acquire him it would take Eklund, 23 1st, Meier and another strong pick. The Sharks org has made it very clear that Eklund is a huge part of the future in SJ.

You are all correct, but it is close and Timo would be a decent replacement for Sam.
Make it 2023 first (rebuilding teams do not want to wait two year for a return), and add a small piece.
I would think if the Sharks wanted to get Jack, they could.
Alternatively, replace Timo with Eklund and add another prospect (Thomas Bordeleau?).
Then the Sharks do not disrupt the current team, just adding to it.

I don't think Eichel wants to go from the worst team in the league last year to an only a tad slightly better team this year. I think the whole purpose of Eichel wanting out is not only because of the difference of recovery method for his injury (him wanting neck surgery), but also because the Sabres failed to build a better team. Eichel wants to compete and contend. He probably wants playoffs experience.

I also don't see why the Sharks need Eichel right now. The Sharks aren't in contention. Even with Eichel, we still have too much money tied to past stars of the league i.e. Vlasic, Burns, EK65, Cooch, etc. It wouldn't make us a dominant team again just because Eichel is on the roster. He needs proper help and support.

Also, I would be absolutely aggravated if the Sharks continue to sell their future when it's clear that the current core cannot get it done anymore and it's time to build up the next crew up.

Eklund and Bordeleau are going nowhere, they are untouchable as they will help form the future core of the Sharks.. That's why SJ is a bad fit.
