Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 9, 2021
Published: Aug. 9, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trades that would strengthen their defense and make it more reliable.

Notes:

I've added Lukas Reichel because I could see him making a splash and making it into the roster fairly quickly.

Connolly could be traded at the deadline for something, but he's only 29 and has had some pretty consistent scoring seasons in the past. He only has two years left as well.

Since Dunn only signed for two years with Seattle if it doesn't work out or they need money for extensions for players like Debrincat they can easily choose not to resign him.
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Dunn, Vince
Additional Details:
De Haan is a decent player whose contract has only one year left and I don't see him getting the same or higher contract, allowing Seattle to sign him for a lower price and probably longer than Dunn.

Subban had some shining moments last season, but not the reliability or consistency of a starter imo, so letting him be a third-string backup would be the best spot for him.

The 2nd round is there because the Blackhawks are essentially trying to make cap space and even up the value of the trade. Maybe add a lower round conditional pick if they make the first or second round of playoffs if Seattle still isn't convinced.
SEA
  1. De Haan, Calvin
  2. Subban, Malcolm
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (CHI)
2.
CHI
  1. Lindholm, Hampus
Additional Details:
Strome is a top line center who could use a change of scenery and the chance to actually play center instead of being forced on the wing. The Ducks are gonna also need someone to fill Getzlaf's spot once he's gone. This could help him reach that same 50 point scorer potential we saw him peak a couple seasons ago.

Stillman could probably be swapped with another defensive prospect, but he's locked up for three years in a very good contract. He also had a positive plus-minus rating in the games he played with the Blackhawks, which says something considering what their defense was like last season.

The pick is added because I'm not entirely sure what other hockey teams value Strome at, so I put it there just to be safe.
ANA
  1. Stillman, Riley
  2. Strome, Dylan
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (VGK)
3.
CHI
  1. 2024 7th round pick (ANA)
ANA
  1. Carpenter, Ryan
Additional Details:

So uh… pick one Dunn or Lindholm. Also. For the one you do pick you might want to add a bit more.

That Seattle trade is not good. If Chicago is getting Dunn then Strome better be coming back in that deal.
