Not even close. Kaprizov isn’t even on Petterssons level. Why would we want a rental? Everyone knows he’s just in it for the money and is gonna dip as soon as he becomes a UFA… Pettersson is younger, better, and most likely cheaper than Kap. No thank you. We aren’t in a position to give away our franchise center who will be a cornerstone of our team for the next 15 years for a guy who’s gonna leave in 4…

Not very to be completely honest. Petey is 22 and already a game changing center. Kirill great but he’s not the star we think he is.

Canucks say no. They need the top line center more than the top line wing

I agree but if Vancouver did acquire Kaprizov would be cool to see him play with Podkolzin

Our top 9 is already good. Kaprizov will probably convince Pods to go to the KHL with him…

If everyone’s assessment is accurate, which I don’t doubt…the Wild definitely need to trade Kaprizov!! Why should the Wild pay him what many elite centers don’t get?!?! It would be horrible asset management…and very typical for this franchise to pay Kaprizov the same kind of money as what Pettersson and Barkov will get! SOP for the Wild…they find themselves, yet again in a position with no power…

I don’t think salary is the reason to trade him. I maintain its highly unlikely he gets more than the offered 8 or 9, and wouldn’t be shocked if he gets less on a 3 year deal.

The reason you would trade him is that he doesn’t really do much for the team on a 3 year deal and you could leverage his current performance for high end futures to use when the buyouts end. It’s all about when BG wants to go for it. Even without Kap, I think the Wild will contend for a playoff spot.

I think there’s a difference though. If you trade him, you are acknowledging you aren’t currently good enough. That is not something we’ve done in the past. We also have reason to believe we can bet on the future, so not fully the same.
