Svech is rumoured to sign with us, I think he is a great fit to try and show what he can do with a bigger role. He has talent.

Based on the guys who are very likely to crack the opening night roster, I put together the lines that I see working out well.

The first step would be finally leaving the CSW line in the past. It simply just hasn’t been effective for a long while now. Ehlers is the best forward on the roster right now, and his elite transition play blended with Scheifs downlow ability works well together. Copp can act as the two way Swiss Army knife on that line and he showed great chemistry with ehlers as soon as last season.

The 2nd line hinges on a big bounce back season from PLD. He was a terrific rush player and was very effective carrying the puck up the ice. This is why I believe him and Ehlers didn’t work out the greatest because they both want to lead the rush up the ice. Kyle Connor is the lines primary finisher. I think Ves showed that he could play defensively last season. I like his power forward down low style and great shot from the slot on this line.

Realistically, Wheeler will be in the top 6 and likely top line still. However, I really believe that less responsibility is for y he best at this point. He and stas seem to have chemistry, and walnuts can cover for wheelers defensive shortcomings at this stage of his career. Svech would be a really fun player to mix with the two.

I think this fourth line could do some great things. All three are quite responsible defensively, but I think Jansen has upside to be a spark plug offensively here.

On the first pair I think Morrissey and Schmidt compliment each other quite well. Jmo’s game has never been to try and create offensively and try to do everything. He was most effective playing a real simple game in the neutral zone and jumping into pockets in the high slot offensively. Nate is a player who can carry more of the load through transition and I fully expect a good year from him after the real weird season he has last year.

Dillon is a perfect partner for pionk. Nothing much to really say about it.

I suspect stan is in the lineup at least to start. DeMelo is a very effective defenceman and should aid him nicely.

Hellebuyck is obviously the starter, but the jets really need to keep an eye on the backup goalie situation. I presume Comrie will be the backup at the start of the year but he should really have a short leash because he has been uninspiring in the NHL to say the least.

Moose lineup:
Luoto-Perfetti-Reichel
Malott-Gustafsson-Polanski
Suess-Johnson- Eyssimont

Samberg-Kovacevic

There still isn’t room for Heinola, who’s expected to start this year on the main roster

Maybe they can rotate him and DeMelo the first two games and see who works best

I would have Heinola ahead of Stanley personally, but it’s likely Stanley will be starting

They should both start imo, DeMelo should go and Winnipeg could get a decent return for him

Personally I like DeMelo he’s very efficient and underrated by a portion of the fan base in my opinion

For 21-22, Demelo is a much better dman than either Stanley or Heinola. I’ve yet to see any evidence that for this upcoming year, the Jets would win more games with either of those young D playing vs Demelo.

I do expect that both have improved over the summer, so the gap last May should close, but Demelo was MUCH better than either at the end of the first round. Demelo countered two of the top players in the world reasonably well...Stanley played decently against players who were waived/released this offseason.

Development wise, Heinola will get a lot more playing his age 20 season with the Moose as the #1 D, #1PP than he will playing on the 3rd pair/press box for the Jets. Stanley has shown for one season he can be a good 3rd pair sheltered D, he’s also not waiver exempt, so he will be on the opening roster. Better to develop Heinola properly and use Stanley in a role he can succeed in, and re-evaluate for 22-23.
