Riellys Back Hometown Boy Signs

Created by: EEEEE15
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 17, 2021
Published: Aug. 17, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trades are explained in that section!
Free Agency:
Rielly could easily get 9M+ but he's said he would take a discount and while its a huge one, Rielly's expressed how much he loves playing in Toronto before.
I assume Campbell can get more money on the market but he seems to love the locker room and the chemistry is there so I think he resigns for a bit less money.
Dzingel is another one of those experimental projects that are a low-risk high reward.
Unless Sandin has an amazing breakout season in 2021-22, he probably takes a deal similar to the deal Dermott took. Liligren still hasn't proven much so he gets a 1 year "prove what you can do" deal.
Spezza comes back on a league-minimum 1 year contract. [Please don't leave, we love you too much:( ]

Lines:
The top line is a carry-over of the previous season presuming that line develops chemistry with each other.
The 2nd line is gonna be really fun to watch. This season could be the time Robertson breaks out and with willy and JT dishing him passes, I could see him having a 25-30 goal season.
The third line would be the consistency line and could potentially be used as a shutdown line. Kampf is a really good defensive center. Laughton is exactly what Leafs fans crave, a physical player who can also play and performs in the playoffs. Gogolev also looks like he's on a trajectory to be playing a bottom-six role by this time and he could do quite a bit of damage on this line.
The fourth line would be once again Spezza returning at center. Dzingel and Bunting on his wings could potentially make this one of the best offensive fourth lines in the league if both bunting and dzingel pan out.
Simmonds would be the extra forwards, with brooks and Anderson ready to be called up in case of injury.
On defense, the first pairing stays the same with Rielly and Brodie.
With holl gone, Muzzin finds himself a new partner with Subban. With Muzzin being a really good defensive defenseman and Subban still a great offensive d-man, this could work out really well.
The last pairing would be the Leafs' 2 most highly touted d prospects in Sandin and Liligren. By now both would be NHL-caliber d-men.
Campbell and Mrazek return in between the pipes.

Lemme know your guys thoughts and don't roast me so much lol, I just did this for fun cause I got too much freetime on my hands.

LAK
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander
  2. 2023 6th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
LA gets a solid middle-six forward for a 2nd round pick. By now they'll be battling for a playoff spot so the 2nd wouldn't be that high a pick. Toronto also clears cap space.
2.
TOR
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (DAL)
  2. 2023 6th round pick (DAL)
3.
TOR
  1. Laughton, Scott ($1,500,000 retained)
  2. 2022 4th round pick (PHI)
  3. 2023 7th round pick (PHI)
PHI
  1. Holl, Justin
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Not sure how people see this, but Toronto gives up a bargain contract for a top 4 d-man, assuming holl signs an extension. They also give up a 2nd round pick so Philly retains 3 years of a contract.

I would suggest Gogolev and Robertson on the same line but they would need a C for some chemistry. If only the Leafs had a C who was really familiar with both...

I can't wait to watch that line DOMINATE with the Marlies. If Moore plays them together

LA isn't giving up a 2nd round pick for Kerfoot. They have no use for another 3rd liner. They have too many of those as it is.

Love that trade for Philly, retention for 4 years is just too sketchy though

You tried to explain that trades and everything but really there isn't much logic . Of course players are going to say "I want to stay" with their current club. They very rarely put their team or themselves "under the bus" for public consumption. Why do sports fans continue to believe what they read in the media or even what players or club executives say in public about contracts?Huh?

The kings trade doesn't have to be the kings, its just the team i picked, i do believe there will be some team that pays that price for kerfoot.

I said this to another comment, the team doesnt have to be the kings, its just a team i thought might be interested but guess i was wrong. I do think a team will pay that price for kerfoot.

Yeah its pretty hard to believe it happens but if the leafs offer a bit of a bigger package, philly might do it. In terms of the player though, i think its a perfect fit for both teams.
