I like your thinking, but I am wondering if you should put Pettersson on the right wing instead if on the wing as he played there during his rookie season. Not sure about Arvidsson, Silfverberg or Sundqvist though.

Bratt makes it in before Silfverberg does.

LW is his strong side tho.

Can't say about Arvidsson, but Silvferberg has been out of the Sweden set-up for like 6 years now. Sunny has a dark horse shot at earning ther RW spot on the checking line.

A few of those players are a combo of injury-ridden and/or out of form. Arvidsson, E Karlsson, primarily. Also, Pettersson and Nylander played together in a WC and it went so bad they had to split them up. I think they might contribute better in different lines as both thrive with the puck.

It will be interesting to see if any of the young longshots has a chance of making the team if they make the NHL roster. Thinking of Raymond, Eklund primarily. If those players make the team, both their NHL employers have indicated only top 6 roles are planned for them. As usually 2-3 good players fall off to injury just on the forward side, Sweden could use a boost of creativity if that happens so they don’t end up with a grinding team similar to 2014 in Sochi, reaching the final but without enough players to pass and keep the puck against the best. Granted, they were very unlucky then. One creative line is not enough against Canada. Imagine the group above without Forsberg, Pettersson and one more top player and you see the drop in creativity. I think Höglander may have a shot. It is a 60 man or so pre selection first.

I know all of this, its not based on objective value, just what I want to see. I still think Karlsson could be an offensive-only impactful player in a short tournament, especially playing next to one of the leagues best defensive defenseman in Brodin. I think Arvidsson could have a rebound year playing with Kopitars elite playmaking. If not, hes not in.

Regarding Pettersson and Nylander; its a small sample size. And I believe they could work just great with each other, feeding of each others strengths. Its weird to see playdriving as something negative in this case, thats what you want your best player in every top-6 role to be able to do.

Top 6 is obvious. That’s why it’s great to split them. It’s not necessarily that they cannot play together, the question is if the team becomes stronger or not, if you do. Our opinion/guess here may differ. As Zib also is a strong playdriver, and I would love to see physical strength in one wing in the two top lines. Also Nulander played very well with Backstrom who sees little to no decline.
With Arvidsson, I hope you are right, that he reaches good form to be a strong contributor on his own and that coaches are not blinded by numbers in too large part generated by Kopitar. I believe it is likely they will demote him if he isn’t strong though so it will be easy to judge anyway. In my experience or observational guess, it seems once a player is in decline about 90% of the time or so they never come back to form, but continue downward. However, if the real problem is just injury, and hd is truly healthy now, perhaps we can hope for that resurgence. I prefer players in form either way, instead of big names.
With E Karlsson I cannot completely disagree with your reasoning, just to say he can be very bad when bad. And Sweden is loaded with defence that don’t make a lot of mistakes if they step in. Here again, I hope he is completely injury free and finds his old self, and deserves a spot. It would be fun in that case to see a pairing of Hedman-Karlsson playing 25 min a game.
