If were missing the playoffs, going from a mid-round 2nd pick to a late 1st pick isnt that big, and you are giving up Rust to do that. I know you are getting Foote, but I dont know haha..

The habs don’t want Pettersson, nor are they anywhere near affording him, even at the deadline. (Since we can’t accrue cap space when operating in LTIR)

I don't think Fleury would be interested in signing a 3 year deal after 2022. Maybe 1 year and VERY unlikely 2 years.

At that point it would be a Age 35+ contract, so he's guaranteed the money in his contract no matter what his status is (LTIR, IR, retired, etc). So he'd likely go for the longest and most lucrative contract he could get. Plus, the three years would line up with the final 3 years of Sid, Geno, and Letang.
