Players I hope the Isles Trade for

Created by: C_leon35
Team: 2021-22 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 31, 2021
Published: Aug. 31, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- One glaring issue with the Isles is their aging core and the future may be a big problem, these are some younger solutions or replacements I think could work and allow us to still compete. Another issue is goal scoring which is another reason for some of my trades
- Also I am not trying to say the isles should trade for ALL of these players, maybe just a couple
- The lines are not in correct order

NYI
  1. Yamamoto, Kailer [RFA Rights]
EDM
I’m really hoping for Yamamoto as he is one of my favorite players outside the islanders, If Bailey potentially gets traded, Yam would be the perfect fit for the 2RW spot or Yam could play on the 3rd line
    2.
    TOR
Dermott would be a great bottom 4 pick up for defense, as he should be cheap, is young and is a decent player. Hopefully he could fix our LD problem
      3.
      SEA
I believe the 3LW spot should go to McCann if we trade for him. We already saw him traded before and he was bought for very cheap, and then picked up for free by Seattle so acquiring him shouldn’t be too hard if we give Seattle prospects or picks to help their future. McCann is one of the most underrated players in the league
        4.
        OTT
Mete - Mete is still a relatively young player and could split games with Andy Greene as he may retire soon. This could help fill the 3 LD spot Andy Greene will leave behind. Mete was also picked up off of waivers so his value shouldn’t be too high.
Zub - Zub is also young too but if Mayfield is potentially traded away for Tarasenko or something else, I could see Dobson taking the 2RD spot and Zub or someone like him could fill 3RD
          5.
          STL
This is one a lot of people have been talking about and has been in rumors. Tarasenkos value is much lower than it has been in the past and if he’s healthy, I think would be a great fit next to barzal. Hopefully we could get another team or STL to retain some salary off his contract
            6.
            CBJ
This one would definitely be the hardest one to pull off, Laine still has great value however if he does poorly this season I’m sure it will drop even more. Laine would be able to put up great results next to barzal and is still young too.

Only players that don’t make sense is Laine and Tarasenko. Laine is a powerplay specialist and he’s stated he wants to play the game the way he wants to play it (doesn’t care about playing defense) . Tarasenko is not a top line player at this point in his careers with his injuries. Wahlstrom is the ideal winger for Barzal

On behalf of Oilers fans.... you can't have Yamamoto.

Guy is small but overall great work ethic and positioning. Last year's stats were more unlucky than anything. I don't see him ever getting into the Kane/Gaudreau/Caufield type category but see him as an excellent top 6 complimentary winger.

That’s exactly why I want him, he’s a great player and It will probably be pretty difficult to trade for him but if the isles can manage it I’d be super happy

Yeah I agree too, I’m really hoping to see him get a promotion in ice time this season but I’m not sure if Trotz gives him 1st line minutes yet. If Tarasenko and Laine can overcome their weaknesses they would definitely be interesting solutions but hopefully Wahlstrom gets first line minutes

That’s a pretty fair trade, Isles probably accept something like that. bolduc might be hard to trade for though as he’s one of the isles best prospects

Yeah having brothers would be cool, with raty it definitely is a possibility Lou accepts and I’d honestly be fine with that trade if isles trade for one of the other younger players mentioned (Someone like Yam or McCann) so we don’t get screwed over in the future

I think honestly Mccan is the hardest one to get here as SEA really need him rn with low LW and center depth atm maybe but id have to be a big overpay

Yeah tbh I’d be willing to risk a little bit for McCann as I can see him continuing to be a great forward however he doesn’t have to be the only young option to trade for
